I think we have it easy with parking in Durban, we park at the ICC which is around R20 & about 150m from the entrance

...I have always found a parking at the bank on the corner, but that is usually for Saturday matches, and it is free. But yeah there is plenty parking around Kingsmead (always will be called this to me! ;) )

  • Ticket prices!! It's always been an issue but they claim supply vs demand.
  • Poor to crap performance of team since end of season, too much disappointment
  • weather + slump knockout/early end of game

Parking .. i dunno hey, I know Newlands area(live near) so i know where to park

.... Prices are not that bad, seriously. R140 for a whole day for an ODI game? Come on....

I think the IPL highlighted that. Cheaper seats means more people sitting in them.

RE fat, I did state usually. Smoking, drinking and the associated unhealthy eating usually seem to go together. I cannot imagine a tri-athlete being a heavy chain smoker!

RE unhealthy, yes! Ask any life insurance actuary about the average health of a smoker versus a non smoker.

Ps nicotine is a appetite suppressant....... but hay.

Seats behind the wicket, where you can actually watch the match, cost way more than R140.

R140 usually gets you a crappy seat where you only can only see the side-on view. And the people who sit around you there are usually the annoying loudmouth twats who throw their beers around, thinking they're making it fun for everyone else.

R60 more and you have the good seats. Wow R200 for a whole day of fun.

But people do not think twice about buying a drink at a bar or restuarant for R20-50.....

Come on R200 for an ODI is really not expensive.

And if you're a family of 5? Leave the wife and kids at home while you go to the cricket alone? :D

well do you never go eat out? R100 per person easily, and thats only 1-2 hours of entertainm. Seriously people pay R50 per per for a movie ticket thus R25/hour

Cricket is 8 hours for max R200, thus R12.50/hour ;)

And yes hell just now the wife or kids drink your beer!

I find it confusing they comparing the prices to IPL where the WHOLE game is not even half the game in an ODI. :D

Lol :D

IPL was R60 a single game and R100 a double for the grass. R40 more for ODI is really not something to blame the poor sales on.

You're filling your stomach, something that you actually need to do to survive. Albeit it tastes a bit better, but still it's food.

Anyway I'm not married so it's fine for me :) But there are lots of people with families who would rather spend money on their family time elsewhere than sitting among a bunch of loudmouth drunks who can never seem to keep their beers in the cup. And then be treated like criminals by the security. And then have to use filthy bathrooms. Etc. It might just be too much effort to subject their families to that kind of environment.

No eating out is a luxury. Simple.

Also if you know whats happening at the cricket and your kids and wife are not happy with it then don't take them. Simple.

But I have gone to the cricket more than 3 times in the last year with some of my older friends who have kids of 4-8 y/o and they enjoy the grass banks very much. Also we have never been harassed by anyone and at Centurion there is a family area where no smoking or drinking is allowed right behind the bowlers arm (PRIME SEATS) and it is free for any parents with children with ANY ticket you buy.

So please don't tell me R110 per person is too much for a day with the family.

O wait. Simple ;):p

Well not all of us can make a trip to Centurion for every match. Go to a few Wanderers matches before telling me that I'm talking k@k :)

Lol, o come on people take their kids to lion farms 100kms away and pay R150 entrance.

Try again. The family argument failed thus far for everyone in Gauteng.

FFS not everyone does half the sh*t that you're talking about :/

So everyone takes their family to lion parks? And everyone goes out for fancy dinners? And everyone who takes their kids to lion parks and fancy dinners are also cricket fans? See I can generalise too.
