FFS not everyone does half the sh*t that you're talking about.

So everyone takes their family to lion parks? And everyone who takes their kids to lion parks are also cricket fans? See I can generalise too.

Now now temper temper.

Then save your chocolate money and go watch the cricket.

CSA are being silly about this. The SA public have had their fill. ICC CT, IPL, AUS series.....come on damn i have free tickets and I gave them away because I have seen enough cricket this year.

The cricket is affordable. If you are a fan then save up or watch the game at home. Save that one trip to McDonalds or KFC for a month and TADA! It is a luxury not a right, deal with it.

R110 / ticket is fair.

I'd say so, but when it gets to R200, that's pushing it.

It's a combination of things Devill. Ticket prices is one of them. The ticket prices argument doesn't float for everyone, but it is valid for some people.

I do not agree. It is like complaining that the Audi R8 should be cheaper so that everyone can drive one....

Or like saying the Spur must drop their prices so people can all go there.

It is a luxury, I repeat, a luxury not a right.

I'd say so, but when it gets to R200, that's pushing it.

Yeah but come one R200 for the best tickets.... you can get tickets that are basically the same for R140.

But the point is that that SA fans are "full" on cricket atm. Also our National team not performing that well since the Aussie tour is not helping.

They expect IPL attendances. Well sorry but no. That was a ONCE OFF thing so people wanted to attend a game or two to say hay I was at the IPL.

A ODI vs England is just not the same, not to mention the games against ZIM.

I saw 3 matches at Newlands this year, 2 x IPL and 1x Cobras.
Not too pricey and was a good experience.

There was a time when I watched, or at least followed every single SA and other country's international matches, but there's just too much of it these days.

I'm not even watching this ENG - SA series on tv so far, just checking the scores.
Will watch the Test maches though. :) Those are still rare.

LOL you go on about it being a luxury and not a right, and then for the next person you quote you go and contradict yourself but saying how it's not a lot? I agree that it's a luxury, and not everyone can afford everything. Some people choose what luxuries they'd rather spend their money on, because they may not be able to do everything. Who are you to tell them what they can afford and what they can't?

You're only doing half the calculation. We're not talking about JUST the ticket price. Throw in parking and food/drinks and compare THAT. Numerous people in this thread mentioned paying up to R40+ for parking. Then you can't bring in your own drinks , resulting in paying a fortune for crappy castle beer.

Then add on top of it all the convenience factor of doing all this at home.

Same issue with movies. The movie ticket might be ok, then they nail you on the popcorn and coke [costing more than the movie ticket]. So when people say "movies are expensive" , it really comes down to everything but the ticket! ;) And then you are still less comfortable than home...

I don't tell them their wallets do.

Did you read that before you posted?

I never told anyone where to spend their cash. I simply said if you can not afford it stop crying about it. I can not afford to have children so I am not having kids.

And a luxury does not have to cost R100+, chocolates are a luxury.

Double ply toilet paper is a luxury..... Get it? Got it? Gooooood.

I agree. But the point is its not a civil right, it like the movie is a luxury :)

Also I do not pay parking as I get there early and/or I will actually walk further than 100m :p:D

Devill,

Sorry but your arguments don't hold! R100+ is not acceptable! Why is possible that the Champoins Trophy was cheaper than the currentl England Series.

The other problem (as has been mentioned), its not only the ticket prices. The food is flippen expensive! Drinks and even worse and the car guards are the pits!

For me to go to the cricket for a full day will cost me nothing less than R300 - R400. I cannot afford that!!

Rugby costs me nothing more than R100 - you do the math!

And seeing that this thread is about poor attendance, thanks for confirming that the costs involved in attending a cricket match is a contributing factor (even though you seem to dispute it).

Your posts are full of contradictions and backtracks, and then you get all defensive when you're called on it. How hard is it to say "yes I may have been wrong, ticket prices is one of the factors, but not the only one"?

ICC CT had a couple more sponsors.
ICC CT sold the TV rights for a tad more.
By a tad I am guessing in the region of 50 mil more :)

R265-355 for a whole days entertainment come on. Save up a bit.
R200/R110 for your ticket
R65 for four beers
R40 for another 4 drinks
R50 for boerewors and buns. (food you can take in)

Stop being lazy and walk a bit further then you do not have to pay for parking. I have not paid for pariking at ONE of the 9 ODI / IPL games I went to watch.

Rugby costs me nothing more than R100 - you do the math!

Which games did you watch? B&I Lions? R1140 / ticket

CC final Tickets were R240
Semi S14 R220
Finals S14 R180

I went to all 3 :)

Please, you do the maths seeing as that is for 90 mins in stead of a whole day!

I'd be happy to pay R200 to see this:

Sri Lanka 393
India 407/1 (70.1 ov)

Virender Sehwag on 264* off 218 balls :eek::eek::eek:

All this talk of ticket prices... It has always made me wonder how pricing is worked out....

Tickets to the opening soccer match at the Moses Mabihda stadium the other night were R20! Now how does that work? I can't even remember far enough back to when I would have paid as little as that for a rugby match!

And even before rugby went professional the prices were still far higher than those for soccer so we can't blame that.

It can't be supply and demand as I have seen many soccer matches sold out but it has been ages since I have seen a full rugby stadium, or cricket for that matter.

Enjoy :)
This is day 2 of the test match there.

72.2
Dilshan to Sehwag, 1 run, dropped by Mahela at first slip. Not a easy chance. It turned in from outside off stump, from short of length, Sehwag tried to cut it late past mahela but it went fast to the right of mahela who put his right hand out but couldn't hold on. Just below knee high.

Reckon 400 is in his range. On 274*
