CSGO Sticky thread

This game has been pretty dead the last while. On my alt account with 8K rating I get games in about 4 minutes, but on my main that is above 15K rating its just all painful. Basically if I want to play I need to play on an alt.

Also don't really like playing lower ratings, its wild, lots of questionable plays happening and a ton of baiting. Might be time to get a rank on my actual alt and see if above 10K but below 15K is still playable

Once I am finished with a couple of projects, and I am coming back to this game. You and I can queue up, and shoot up the script kiddies.

Lol. Now and then I would see I retired pro state that pro players don't HAVE to play with peripherals held by their sponsorship brands. In some instances it is true, but pending on the terms and conditions they IN FACT HAVE TO play with sponsored peripherals.

So... Snap Tap. There are some organisations out there which are essentially Team Razer, Team Logitech, etc. I see that some Pros are endorsing Snap Tap. Lol lol lol.

Valve, Riot... they have no control over their license. "Fair play" is not an equaliser.

Generally, I actually have no issue with these implementations, it is only that you need to allow everyone with such an advantage.

I saw some dude on youtube showing how to eliminate acceleration entirely with binds...so removes the need for counter-strafing entirely.

That needs to be addressed somehow - that goes further than what these keyboards are doing.

It is nullbinds, has been long around. It is binds like these I always bitch about. Nullbinds are allowed on Valve servers, but is prohibited in most competition events.

FACEIT allowed nullbinds when Snap Tap came out, but then promptly reinstated its ban. Only hardware "binds" are allowed.

Counter-Strike is constantly evolving. From art, to maps, to inventive plays, and even player input, the CS community shapes the game.

Scripting and automating player commands has always been contentious, but over the years some forms of scripting (e.g., jump-throws) have gained acceptance, as they enable plays that wouldn't otherwise be possible. In fact, jump-throws became such an important part of the game that we've done the work to make them reliable without any special scripting or binds (i.e., by jumping and quickly throwing a grenade).

Developing one's coordination and reaction time has always been key to mastering Counter-Strike.

Recently, some hardware features have blurred the line between manual input and automation, so we've decided to draw a clear line on what is or isn't acceptable in Counter-Strike.

We are no longer going to allow automation (via scripting or hardware) that circumvent these core skills and, moving forward, (and initially--exclusively on Valve Official Servers) players suspected of automating multiple player actions from a single game input may be kicked from their match.

To prevent accidental infractions, in-game binds that include more than one movement and/or attack actions will no longer work (e.g., null-binds and jump-throw binds).

If you have a keyboard that includes an input-automation feature (e.g., "Snap Tap Mode"), be sure to disable the feature before you join a match in order to avoid any interruption to your matches.

Release Notes for 8/19/2024
[ INPUT ]
  • Certain types of movement/shooting input automation such as hardware-assisted counter strafing will now be detected on Valve official servers, resulting in a kick from the match
  • Input binds that include more than one of the following commands will now be ignored by default. Support can be re-enabled using the cheat-protected convar `cl_allow_multi_input_binds 1`
    • sprint, reload, attack, attack2, turnleft, turnright, turnup, turndown, forward, back, left, right, moveup, movedown, klook, use, jump, duck, strafe, zoom, yaw, pitch, forwardback, rightleft
  • The jump-throw confirmation grunt sound can now be heard by other players nearby

[ VacNet ]
  • Initial testing of VacNet 3.0 has begun on a limited set of matches. If you believe your match was incorrectly cancelled, email us the match details at [email protected]

So this little hype is over, we are glad Valve has taken a stance against Snap Tap. Don’t use Snappy Tappy (SOCD) or Rappy Snappy in CS2 any more as it will result in a kick.

I haven't seen Razer issue any response to Valve's stance. They had players who were sponsored by them endorse it. Wooting has since the start said that they would abide by the rules. Competitions allowed Snap Tap, was it incentivized?

Though it is now only applicable to CS, I am sure that others will take a stance now too. I can't see how a certain peripheral brand will be happy, I mean they build a campaign around it.

Shame, Steelseries, hardly got onto the hype. Wooting did it to keep their sales orders going in competition with Razer.

I am happy to see this issue being resolved. It was never a good idea to build 'illegal' binds into a keyboard. To be honest, it is as good as being a cheat developer and selling cheats. Hacks.

Valve did two good things in 2024.

They changed the rulebook on competition where their license is used. It has its ups and downs, but you can't have some ups without having some downs. All in all, the 2025 rulebook is a positive. It mitigates abuse. They started with some crucial changes in 2024 already.

Why Valve sat on this I don't know, but thanks to Razer, Wooting and to a lesser extent Steelseries, Valve banned key binds which gives a competitive advantage. It has been a long enduring issue.

Then there is a third thing, but only time will tell whether it will succeed. Overwatch is not making it on the esports scene anymore, it is almost dead. There is Gigantic, but it still needs to be better optimised, and well, it is being given away on Epic soon. Deadlock could change it all.

I am happy to see Valve making online gaming a better place. Other FPS games are also long struggling with apparatuses like the Cronus Zen, Xim, etc. Developers have a continues battle to get it inoperable.

There will be more challenges. AI monitors which could use audio input to give visual cues, amongst other things. There is good in these technologies, it could give the tools to make games more accessible to those with disabilities. At this point, all what these brands are doing is contributing to the hacking scene.

I like it how ASUS published this disclaimer after they made the announcement:

You can easily turn the Rapid Trigger function on/off with the keyboard toggle switch. SpeedTap is off by default; press FN + TAB to turn it on when needed!!

Though I agree not to have such a feature fully removed. There is no point to Razer, Wooting and Steelseries removing it from their software, but to have it available as a toggle will spell inevitable trouble. Now you will have a in-game situation where a player will toggle it, in a attempt either to get away with it or have the match forfeited.

ASUS is jumping on a bandwagon headling for the cliffs.

VACnet 3.0 is useless CRV from Africa bhopping everywhere one shotting everyone after the update.
They didn't do sht to the AC, only a new name to give people a false sense of hope. One guy was kicked for scripts early in this game though in that team, but the cheater.... Nah Steam iD: 76561198321602501

I don't have an issue with jump-throw binds, and have been part of the game's meta for almost forever now. Valve is actively seeking to fix a combination of automated inputs. If they can add a third-throwing option which imitates jump-throws, then most of the competitive community will be happy. Alternatively, they could leave it dropped and players would have to relearn their techniques and strategies.

There are groups of players who are now upset, but people need to fault Razer for it. They are a company well aware of exploits, so why play loose with the rules and bake it into their hardware? Anything which overwrites an input is a hack. This is the distinction that sets "Rapid Trigger" and "Snap Tap" apart.

For those who used it while they could, all good, but now the rules are crystal.

I like how some who are complaining are bitching that Valve will rather block Snap Tap than do something about hackers. What is the difference?

While our objective is to bring forth the Razer Advantage to our gamers, we will respect the decisions of our friends in the industry – our Razer Snap Tap feature is off by default and the feature can be turned on/off through Razer Synapse. When the playing field eventually becomes level, you know we will always be ready for you.

Good.

The notes did mention it will only be for a few games at the moment, it won't be for all games yet

Counter-Strike 2 pro falls foul of the SnapTap ban and fesses up: 'embarrassing and amateur'

...

You'd expect the pros to be all over this, and most of them are, but yesterday the team HEROIC messed up. Shortly after victory over NIP in an ESL Pro League Season 20 match, the ESL announced mid-broadcast that SnapTap had been detected on a player's hardware. HEROIC's win was struck off, with the map awarded to NIP, and NIP went on to win the match overall 2-1.

The culprit was HEROIC player René "TeSeS" Madsen, who subsequently said that he had switched off the feature when Valve announced the ban. "****ing embarrassing and amateur from me," said Madsen on social media. "I turned it off ages ago when it was banned from Valve. I didn’t notice it during the game or anything and obviously didn’t do it on purpose. I let the boys down and I’m devastated about it, sry."

He knew.

TeSeS and niko in hot water as HUNDEN releases new evidence in Coach bug scandal

...

As of now, everyone is waiting on the official stand of the ESIC regarding these new claims. While niko and TeSeS both look to be in hot water, TeSeS more than niko, because he deliberately helped HUNDEN cheat.
