Why's Eskom apologizing if it's the DA' fault?
Classic...and so true.Down here, the first sighting of a loose pebble on the road becomes a major triggering event.
The only way for the City to have its natives shut the fukk up, is to get the pebble removed as a matter of regional urgency.
impossible to have a joint problem in cape town
Maybe they are decent like that? It looks like the right thing to do if damage to your infrastructure results in a power outage, even if the damage is from external sources. Why's Eskom apologizing if it's the DA' fault?
okay it seems not everything is back to normal
everything "west" of Adderley Street still has no power, Woolworths and a few shops are running off generators, but Pick n Pay, FNB, Mr Price, Fruit and Veg are all closed

Update from ward councillor Nicola Jowell:
A bit more technical information to summarize the situation: 2 of the 132kV feeders out of Montague Gardens SS linking Woodstock and Foreshore SS have failed (cause and nature not yet established) and the 2nd feeder to Woodstock is being tested currently to determine if serviceable. If okay, we will energise Woodstock with this 1 cable and decouple Foreshore as the load will be too high. Eskom attempted to re-energise Tafelbaai but the line tripped due to a shield wire to ground setting the belt at Monti alight (extinguished now), they are removing the shield wire and will then re-energise. Once Tafelbaai is back we will then close the tie feed we have to Foreshore and run Foreshore as a spur on this 132kV feeder. Will have to also use the Gas turbines at Roggebaai to supplement during peak else will need to load shed. We are continuing with cable fault location on the faulted feeders and once details are known, will we be able to determine time to repair same. We have our specialist cable contractors on standby to assist also.
Nice try! I am not the biggest DA fan, but this is an exception not the norm.I can't remember when last I had a power outage like that here in Joburg, competent people everywhere you look making sure the network is in tip top condition, hopefully the DA doesn't mess things up, looks like trouble aplenty where they govern.
Anyone know if Seapoint/Greenpoint back up? waiting for RSA web to come up

Eskom has estimated that power will be returned to affected suburbs by 15:00 on Tuesday. In a statement, Eskom said operators are repairing an overhead line fault on the Acacia-Tafelbaai line. "Operators were dispatched on Monday night to do an assessment of the damage to the overhead line. However, upon inspection, additional faults were discovered which required further repairs. Eskom has been working tirelessly with the City of Cape Town to restore electricity supply," the statement said.

Sounds like multiple cascading failures:
No they’re not. Lenasia was out of power for a week, north riding had constant interruptions for weeks on end for 10 hours at a time, Windsor was out for days, olivedale as well. So yeah, your facts are utterly weak.Facts are on my side.
I am genuinely worried,Nice try! I am not the biggest DA fan, but this is an exception not the norm.
why are you quoting me if I'm on your ignore list...

Power has been restored to the Foreshore and City of Cape Town. Teams are reporting that electricity supply to Mouille Point, Green Point, Sea Point and Waterfront is imminent.

Depends on the size of the store - most have enough power to get them though load shedding. 12h+ is a long time to have no power.so some of the big names do not have generators?
