Mmm people in CPT are weak complaining about a 12 hour outage. We have had 2 major outages this year in our area. First took 7 days to restore electricity and the second took 5 days. This also happened 3 years back and took 3 weeks to restore.

I can't remember when last I had a power outage like that here in Joburg, competent people everywhere you look making sure the network is in tip top condition, hopefully the DA doesn't mess things up, looks like trouble aplenty where they govern.

Wow you must be in the quarter that doesn't have issues. Just go look at City powers Twitter feed daily, it's more like see what is up.

I dont like the DA, but i can say.. they run things better than the rest of this country. Give credit where it is due.... the rest of SA (most parts - not all) looks like it is still in the dark ages.

It's all about balance and context is it not? How was this CBD outage the DA's fault exactly?
Looking at the damage that was done I'm actually impressed that they've managed to restore power so quickly (even if it doesn't feel like it was quick). Smells like sabotage to me, though I guess we'll need to wait for a proper investigation to take place. Given that we know the grid is being sabotaged all around the country, it's really quite possible this is a case of treason too. Just wish we knew who was behind it...

if it happened in a suburb it wouldn't really be such an issue

but this was the entire CBD without electricity

It is what the thread is/was about...........................
Yes I am aware of that. This is why I was here, and I was agreeing with what itareanlnotani said.
Then you decided to come in and defend the DA.
