Hi there

Many people are asking why they were banned out of this section. The reason in basically all the cases are: There were many complaints about your posts in this forum, and section ban was therefore requested.

A section ban is seen as a way to avoid multiple infringements, which may result in a full forum ban. We always want to avoid banning a member, and a section ban is hence a far better way to deal with this situation.

I can definitely understand that this is not pleasant to have your rights revoked in a certain section. However, we tried other options in the past and they did not work.

The voice of the people has spoken. Democracy baby

Maybe some concession should be made in the Gaza thread. It's an incredibly emotive topic with some extreme and highly charged opinions.

I feel for the mods and admins, online bickering is time-wasting and trolling is annoying. Sock-puppets should be banned outright. Sectional bans are very mild measures. Arguing in bad faith should get banned as well. That includes bad debate and logical fallacy repeated ad nauseam, ad hominem and similar. If the topic is emotive, good practice is to sleep over it until you're able to resume arguing from a neutral pov or recuse yourself. Seems like rpm and Grant had to do that for some people.

So a person will never really know in an emotional thread whether or not your opinion is ban worthy.....Sounds safer to avoid that section.....or if you post, post a link and leave your opinion out of it....'cause forum mainstream will kick you out
