Current Affairs section bans

From my experience 95% of discussions as a mod are text passing past one's monitor. As a mod one sees so many squabbles, trolling, people playing on others' nerves that one grows a very thick skin. If the forum contingent is male and as such deemed biased, does it matter or make the moderator fail in some way?

BTW, do you wish to present a reasonable argument while engaging in ad hominem at Gary?

I think you're missing the point. Hate against certain groups is tolerated on this forum. That's a shame. It gives all people on this forum a bad rep and when people read these comments they inevitably think that all of us of certain group are hateful and prejudiced in society as a whole. And that is an even bigger shame

Like Pro-Atheism? Pro-White? Pro-Isreal? Pro-Vodacom? Pro-Openweb?

Have you reported these?

I'm afraid I'm not on this forum section much. Which sections do you feel are treated unfairly? There is seemingly very little moderation here, which typically makes for flowing discussion. Readers typically make up their own mind, though one does get classes of users that try to divert attention by either veering off topic (often verbosely or with many small OT posts or red herrings)

When someone brings up these issues, comments get deleted, threads closed or deleted completely. Speaks volumes of the owner of this site. Pathetic.

Don your tinfoil hat before your more of your brain gets toasted.

So garyvdh doesn't like what I post about his bias and hateful posting, so he simply deletes it because he's a moderator. Pathetic

And again with the personal comments. You just don't understand how this works, do you?

You should have read the thread fully. I said hateful postings against Muslims, Blacks and religious people are tolerated and encouraged on mybb.

And now it's been deleted. Post something critical of mybb, it gets deleted

Garyvdh has a clear bias, yet he's allowed to post news articles on behalf of the site plus he's a moderator. And by calling out that, I'm the one at fault?

Yeah the owner doesn't get involved in petty daily squabbles. It's unfair to be suggesting what people get up to is a reflection of his desires somehows. This forum is much more tolerable from it's early days and that's because of moderation making clear intolerance isn't allowed or tolerated. Sure the same people are still here and unlikely to change but they have toned down

If garyvdh's feelings were hurt by my post, that part could have been deleted, as is normally the case. Entire posts should not been deleted.

When the site owner appoints someone with a clear bias as a news poster and moderator, he accepts that the person's conduct will be reflection of him and the site

If I were to wager a guess, your ad hominem resulted in a post deletion. That is fairly standard moderation practice, no mod will filter through all the finer points in ones' posts. You come here to complain but still pass off personal attacks... Gary could be commended for only pointing out that you may have gotten out on the wrong foot, elsewhere you'd be in a chill room by now.

Gary is not a moderator he just has permission to clean up threads and post news. Remember you can post your own news to counter him. Plus the permissions he has were granted after an open nomination process. He's just the most active of the people granted those permissions and the initiative was due to members complaining about how the sapa news articles were selected.

What you are not getting is that it is not about your opinion, it's about your delivery.

"I think Gary is biased" is a very different comment to "His posts are hateful and biased, it's pathetic".

As I mentioned earlier - You can have any opinion you want on this site - I have certainly always been able to have my say with no issues whatsoever. Having read a handful of your posts just recently, I can say quite honestly that the problem here is largely to do with your attitude, delivery and conspiracy theories about bias and censorship. I don't know if you are aware of my position on such matters, but suffice to say, I don't support censorship in any form (aside from what is unfortunately necessary to keep such a large forum in check, and I feel the mods and owners here, do a great job most of the time. We, as users, also tend to let them know quite vocally if we feel they are doing wrong).

Also, regarding MyBB being a wellspring of racism, etc, as you per your accusation... Well, not that I agree, but you do realise, I'm sure, that you can't have the freedom of expression you expect (demand?), without the existence of material that you object to.
