Cyberpunk 2077

Give or take 4-5 months and the game is going to be less 50%.

BTW, The Witcher 3 is currently on an 82% at GOG, don't know about Steam as I haven't logged in.

Now that the source code is in the wild, I think that CDPR is going to leverage that as an excuse to cancel some game components like multiplayer saying that it is vulnerable or something.

I haven't been following that story but makes a good pass for same old corporate bs.

Personally I wouldn't mind them ditching multiplayer if they redirect those resources into desired DLC. It is not long any more until they announce their next AAA for development.

Always one really dumb **** floating around. Of course we will want to see what level of **** show it actually is.

I'm going to laugh a little when the unofficial patches starts popping up fixing their **** for them.

The correct path from here would be to fix the fundamental broken things first if they can, then worry about extra features and content. Otherwise you will always suffer the phantoms within.

The multiplayer component was planned for 2022. If they are going to fix the game until then it should be rated no more than 4/10.

After Cyberpunk 2077, it's harder than ever to guess which of these big games will meet expectations

The sci-fi RPG is alright, but no Witcher 3. So what will the next truly essential singleplayer blockbuster be?

In a year or so, I'm sure some critics will reappraise Cyberpunk 2077, highlighting its strengths without years of pent-up hype coloring their perspective—it'll get the Mass Effect Andromeda treatment, in other words. But I doubt that Cyberpunk 2077 will ever be looked at as a landmark open world RPG in the way The Witcher 3 is. It's just a decent sci-fi RPG that had a buggy launch.

There are upcoming games like Diablo 4, TES 6, Starfield, all of which will be driven up by hype where some will fail to deliver as promised with high review scores, and around we all will go again.

I am a bit worried for Diablo 4... I just think it will not be as good as Diablo 3, and ARPG competition is tough now.

Which game would you classify as competition for Diablo IV right now? (not PoE)

If you say so...

I'm desperate for something that comes even close.

Playing Desperados III at the moment (Gamepass ftw) and while it's totally different to Diablo, I do find it intriguing (working out the solutions).

I'm waiting for the all clear on the bugs for Cyberpunk before I commit the time.

That’s just my experience but I’m open to suggestions if you have other good options.

Which games did you enjoy as much?
While I do appreciate you enthusiasm there is probably bad news: you've already played them. However we can start a list your ARPG thread and then we could see other options?

I may have, maybe not. I'm just asking your siggestions as there are a ton of games and it's highly likely I missed one.

I cannot agree with this author's stance,

I just got a Cyberpunk 2077 refund after 55 hours of play on PS5 — here’s why

It took several dozen hours, but I’ve finally lost patience with Cyberpunk 2077, even on the PS5

After 55 hours with Cyberpunk 2077, playing through a huge chunk of what the game has to offer in that time, last week I put in a refund request and it was duly granted a few days later.

So, Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t stolen any of my hard-earned money. But it did ultimately waste something more valuable: my time.

...

Of course, the obvious question is if the game was so buggy why did it take me 55 hours to reach my breaking point and put in a refund application?

After all, it’s not like Cyberpunk 2077 is the first overhyped game I’ve wasted my time and money on; I have the digital deluxe edition of Marvel’s Avengers to prove it. Why has this specific release got me standing on my soapbox?

I could claim that I was soldiering on through sheer determination. But in truth, I was still playing because underneath all the issues there’s a genuinely great game and I wanted to see my V’s adventure through to the end.

I am generally pro-consumer, but I do understand commerce and consumer behaviour.

By the author's own admission, he completed the game, hence by determination pushed through a buggy experience to see his adventure through to an end, and only then requested his money back.

When you aren't happy with a product return it or cancel it. Sony's position on this was abundantly clear, but it doesn't mean that you may abuse your position.

This is more a concern regarding morality, and people being people each one does have their own interpretations.

I discovered the other day that CDPR doesn't publish their sales numbers, hence only physical distribution numbers are tracked which doesn't necessarily equate to retail sales.

Plus 13 million copies sold, and according to a community poll, yes, a community poll, close to 2 million copies was returned. The copies sold was as stated by CDPR in their investor notes, 8 million which was pre-orders, and according to this note on December 22nd it took purchase returns into the balance. I am curious as to where their current sales numbers are standing, and how many late returns was made, and by 'late' I mean high playtime returns?

Not to mention that console users, maybe only PS, are all getting to keep their installations active when the title is returned. I guess the same applies to GOG, buy on GOG, download the installer and return the title. Morality.
