Cyberpunk 2077

so now I will ask fulcrum, what game is cyberpunk 2077 most similar to that you've played before,

Im trying to remember another game I played previously with corporations and augmentations, and a very sci-fi nature to it.
and one of the corporations strangely enough based in Johannesburg,

but the name escapes me now.

from what youve seen is Cyberpunk similar or not to that?

The closest game in representation is Deus Ex, but Deus Ex is nowhere close in scale to CP2077. A new Deus Ex should very much be like what CP2077 is now.

You can see the takeaways in CP2077. I see System Shock, Shadowrun, Observer and the Bladerunner touch on it is notable. All titles which are based in a cyberpunk/dystopian setting with their own and unique lore.

CP2077 is setting a very high bar. They have build a world rivalling that which is Ubi's grace in their game making, and CP2077's 1st person perspective is cutting it to be much more personal.

figured it out,
game I am thinking of is syndicate from 2012,
how much like cyberpunk is syndicate?

Gosh! Syndicate is so far back I genuinely can't remember.
what jogged my memory is the whole megacorporation vibe, of Cyberpunk
sounds a lot like some of the companies like Araskaga, especially Eurocorp that had a floating city,
they you got to by hitchhiking on the wing of a transport, where you see it from the outside.

All in all the immersion, this game will be awesome with my X2HR's and the reason why I got them to play such immersing games. I am currently watching Shroud play CP2077, and though I believe many will be unhappy with themselves in the hardware department, the game looks great, but a lot which is happening in this game have already been done by other games hence I hope that I will be sold on the lore, but the game world is captivating and unique to Cyberpunk (1988) which give it originality.

Now that I have seen how the game plays on PC, I am happy.

Just to give note, I have seen various streamers play the game at low-medium 1080p settings, because reasons, but it looks very much the same as the leaked version which was played on the PS4. Graphically I believe everyone will be happy.
Sony MX3's here - noise cancelling really does immerse you in the game

I have two screens - to increase immersion I usually put a blank (with black bacground) powerpoint slide fullscreen on the 2nd monitor

From a gameplay perspective it isn't the same game, but yes, Syndicate is rich in cyberpunk themes. Syndicate (2012) isn't an open-world game, and though Deus Ex was an open-world game it was limited in accessibility as the developers pushed the main plot. The original syndicate games are another story as it is more territorial.

Syndicate is absolutely nothing like Cyberpunk.

For one, Syndicate is a linear FPS with no open world or vehicles or quests and I can't remember there being much customization or dialogue options.

the two can't be further apart

Also reminds me of Altered Carbon

found it, a megacorporation based right here in Jhb

so would you say Cyberpunk is what Syndicate "could" have been, had they developed the story more?
I mean were just seeing the beginning of Cyberpunk, could be a FPS or a spin off is next?

Absolutely not
Syndicate was never developed to be an open world RPG game.

Syndicate is your typical quick burst FPS campaign with a cyberpunk / corporate espionage theme and that is all they ever intended it to be.

so do you think Cyberpunk will ever get a spin off similar to Syndicate?
or is there a chance its just the beginning, and what comes next are mission packs, and new content that expands the game more.
I mean look at the division for instance, expanded quite a bit.

I think the Syndicate lore is great, but they deviated too much by changing the game. I believe a more X-com styled game would have better suited the game's direction. Syndicate (2012) in my opinion wasn't a bad game, mechanically, but the lore was wasted on a bad campaign.

I would like to see a Steampunk game done this way... Arcanum comes to mind.

Why do you want to compare Cyberpunk with Syndicate?

I honestly do not understand.

Syndicate is a mediocre fps with a 5 - 6 hour campaign and is utterly forgettable

I have no heard twice that CP2077's gun play mechanics is similar to The Outer Worlds, and now Shroud said makes him think about Borderlands

Nothing wrong with either game's shooting mechanics, but it is indicative to shoot spamming.
