Spending way too much time in this game already, but what I can say is whoever visualised Cyberpunk as a digital game is obsessed with Deus Ex and Dishonoured. Familiarity in this game is all too common.
I genuinely like this game because it is right up my alley, but I don't believe it is GOTY material, although it already won best RPG at GamesCom which allows the title to be used, ironic that CP2077 isn't a thoroughbred RPG.
In my opinion Watch Dogs 3 is the better game, but Ubi haven’t rubbed right with the masses. WD3 is very much the same, excluding the Cyberpunk theme it is still a punk game.
As now, Wasteland 3 is the best RPG, how CP2077 won there is beyond me not to mention the award was given in August already… neither did Wasteland 3 win at The Game Awards, because it went up against SEGA and Square Enix stables which also only had action-adventures on the table.
Just like CP2077 won an award in August I am calling it now that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be the better RPG, well it is an RPG, and game than CP2077. Larian Studio’s track record is simply too good to lose. Who knows how Bloodlines 2 may turn out, and they have been warned by CP2077’s launch, but I think Paradox’s title is currently in a creative mess.
What disappointed me about CP2077 going into the lore is that it isn’t that unique and it does borrow a lot, and yes, it is a cyberpunk theme, but I have experienced it all already and I would have liked more originality. I read up on this, and I noted that the Cyberpunk lore was updated with Cyberpunk Red (/cough CDP RED) release last year. I guess the digital game direction, creativity, impacted the latest board game. I would love to own a copy,
I rate Cyberpunk 8/10, sadly to disappoint with the 80%, but that is how it is ignoring the bugs. Add the bugs and I will give it a solid 5/10, there is simply no excuse, and in my 55 hours I have experienced the most insane bugs I have experienced in gaming history. The mission bugs killed it. I was also an early The Division 2 adopter and it also had broken missions, and you couldn't complain about it because their community would simply point out that you are the problem and the problem are not with the game. It may be hot in CP2077's kitchen, but the market is still more lenient with them than any other developer.
Just to wrap this post up, The Witcher 3 was a 10/10. CDPR can do better, but they made too many promises. I also wouldn't be surprised that they rushed CP2077 to get back on track with setting up The Witcher 4's development which is set to start now, probably early next year, and that they have another title in production which very little is known about which is set to launch in 2021.
Anyway, I probably have 15hrs to play in CP2077 and then I am done. 65-70 hrs game, in the case you play like I do, and you probably need to subtract some hours I dedicated to testing out the game. It may be a longer game as I have had side quests expand at a later time in the game, maybe the main plot drives more side quests... will have to see, but I also have work to do.
