Cyberpunk 2077

At this point CDPR should just scrap Cyberpunk on the old consoles IMO. Dedicate those resources instead to fixing the PC version and ensuring that the next gen console update is as high quality as possible.

That way they can still end up with a good game while people still actually care rather than trying to work miracles on Jaguar / Radeon 7850 level hardware. Talk about one for the museums...

This game should never have been released on ancient hardware. They don't have the juice to power it decently.
Ghost of Tsushima? Spider-Man? Horizon Zero Dawn? Days Gone? Even the Last of Us 2 with the amount of power it's visuals take. Even God of War. The console can power the game, CD Projekt Red just ****ed up.

Nah, nothing special here the console should be able to run it just fine, CDPR gone and fscked up that's all.

You’re conflating impressive artistic direction with actual graphically taxing effects by mentioning some of those games. They’re using the same slight-of-hand tricks to make things look good that they used all the way back on the PS2.
But yes, TLoU 2 was still very impressive.

So I maintain that this game is very poorly optimised? It really does seem to be a resource hog when compared to similair games that perform much better on much less. GTA5 is the obvious example.

Further to that the immersion breaks are crazy bad. Last night I was finishing up the prologue missions and without giving away too many spoilers there was a part where I needed to lean out the car window and shoot some drones, only for SOME REASON, I didnt have a gun in my hands! It looked like I was holding a gun, but all you could see were my empty hands. When I shot, nothing happened - the drones destroyed us.

Shortly after this scene, where Jackie goes to remove a certain something from his head, he instead put his gun in his head, took his gun out of his head, and gave me his gun. When I looked down to see this item in my hands, my hand was empty.

During the Interlude mission, I couldnt progress the story because one of the enemies was stuck behind a door. I only managed to do it when he finally put his arms THROUGH THE WALL for the 10th time, and I finally killed him by blowing his hands off.

This is on PC.

It's amazing to me that this thing was released in this state. I would have thought CDPR of all studios would have learned from the failures of others like Ubisoft. Wtf happened here. I haven't reviewed it on Steam yet because it would be a definite thumbs down in the current state. And it's a pitty because I am loving the story, the narration, the voice acting - all incredible - but ja retarded AI and numerous immersion breaking bugs are currently killing it. I might actually take a break and come back once it's been patched.

unlikely to happen given how popular this game was. There are probably a couple million XBONE and PS4 copies of Cyberpunk right now wrapped up and under peoples Christmas trees all over the world. They're going to have to sort it out.

The point still stands though, regardless of impressive artistic direction. What makes Cyberpunk 2077 so much more special that it can't run optimally on the platform that is home to some of the greatest looking games of this generation? How is Cyberpunk 2077 breaking some visual barrier we have yet to reach that it can't render on the platforms that it started development on at a steady 30fps? Yes, the game looks fantastic - when everything is working - but it is not running on some kind of revolutionary engine that is too good for the consoles 90% of the world is still running on. The truth is you can run anything out there right now on a ps4 or a xbox one with the right amount of effort put in for optimization. If Miles Morales can run at a steady 30 fps while ziplining, swinging and jumping around on a PS4, then I call bullshit that Cyberpunk 2077 can't while walking down the street.

I think I need to reinstall GTA5 to see what these guys are going on about. Last I'd played it, it didn't look anywhere as modern as CP2077.

Cyberpunk has better textures and lighting which is expected for a game released 7 years later. GTA 5 however does everything in the world around you better. AI of vehicles and people, explosions, water effects, etc. It's like CDPR didn't even try to make these things believable even when they had GTA 5 to compare their AI to, all those years.

Hence why I mentioned "visuals" in the context of the discussion above regarding why it requires more power to run optimally and not bugs and poor/lazy design choices on CP2077's behalf.
