Cyberpunk 2077

The Steam 1.05 update was close to 2GB, right? I see GOG say that the GOG version 1.05 is roughly 9GB. I guess it is due to compression?

1.7 GB for steam

Noticing no differences whatsoever after patch.

Except pop in textures occur more frequently

What nudity?
Apart from my characters penis, after nearly 50 hours I have not seen any nudity at all.
Even in strip clubs, the strippers are either fully clothed or have band aids over their nipples.

This is with the nudity censor off.

For a city obsessed with sex they are very prudish.
Cue the consoles (and sony's weir nudity rules)

Head Of CD Project Red Likes Multiple Tweets Criticizing Sony For Pulling Cyberpunk 2077

Adam Badowski has been liking tweets that criticize Sony for delisting Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red's Head of Studio has liked numerous tweets from disgruntled customers criticizing Sony pulling Cyberpunk 2077 from its digital storefront.

Despite being described as broken and almost unplayable on last-gen base consoles, many have been complaining about Sony's recent decision to pull Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store entirely after the game's rocky launch. Not everyone supports these complaints, but one individual that seemingly does is none other than the head of CD Projekt Red himself, Adam Badowski.

Many fans have been voicing their displeasure over Sony's decision, and a quick look at Adam Badowski's liked tweets shows that he's liked a considerable amount of them. What's strange is that Badowski's actions seem to go directly against the reports that the decision to remove the game was a decision made by CD Projekt Red and not Sony. It also indicates that there may be a bit of bad blood between the two companies.

As you can see from the tweets above, there's quite a range of opinions flying around regarding Cyberpunk's 2077 removal. One Twitter user even goes so far as to call for Marvel's Avengers to also be removed from the PlayStation Store due to that game's low player count and similarly rocky launch in September. Others simply disagree with the decision and think that the game shouldn't have been pulled.

These tweets being liked by someone with such high authority at CD Projekt Red casts doubts over how amicable the talks between Sony and CD Projekt Red actually were. From the outside, the decision seems to be mutual, although it's anyone's guess as to how things went down behind the scenes. These liked tweets from Badowski at least suggest that the talks weren't just a friendly chat.

As Mike Rose from No More Robots points out on Twitter, what's likely to have happened is that CD Projekt Red offered refunds to customers that Sony wasn't prepared to give out. In retaliation, Sony has told CD Projekt Red that it will need to delist Cyberpunk 2077 from its store in order for people to receive refunds and, due to the sheer volume of refund requests, CDPR will have begrudgingly agreed. This is all just conjecture, but what's clear is that there's trouble in paradise between CDPR and Sony.

 I see he already removed his likes.

No it's the way they implement patches. Fitgirl explained that gog can't do proper xdelta patches, basically said their patch methodology sucks.

Be careful and don't loot too much. If your save file hits 8MB, it's corrupted and lost forever.

YongYea is a bit late with this news, there is an entire discussion about on CDPR's own website.

EDIT: Looking into this now, wow, the situation has exploded. It seems inventory is a big concern at this time. Players who collect items may run into this, and this being an RPG where looting and collecting items are encouraged I can see why consumers are taking it guns blazing to CDPR.

It is sad how the CDPR moderators are dismissing the issue. Terrible, showing poor character, and now knowing that CDPR may have also lied to their investors this may become challenging.

No idea but if your game came from gog it's 9gb so I assume both.

The only game I have ever installed and maintained through GOG Galaxy was GWENT, hence I am asking. I don't know how their updates work. Usually I download my installers and play my 'old' games on my laptop.

There's also the possibility that it varies by game/publisher but not sure.

Now that I am messing around with the game I have only now noticed that you cannot harm children. You cannot aim at children, now splash damage whatsoever to children, they are immortal.

In regard to the savegame issue, this response by moderator,

Right -- now here's a reality of the way that inventory systems work sometimes. (TW3 has a similar sort of limitation.) Whenever you create an item in the inventory, it creates an ItemID. For every new instance of that item (like if the number of that item changes...or I pick up two of the same type of gun) the game will need to assign a unique ItemID for it in order for the program to be able to tell the two different items apart or record the change to the stack, and that number, for each successive instance, will obviously get bigger.

So, if I am rapidly adding / removing items from my inventory, I may inadvertently increase that ID number to something that the engine no longer recognizes. Or a number that conflicts with some other function of the inventory. Or save system. Or loading system. Whatever. Something doesn't like it. That's where the bug must live.

BUT -- considering that CP2077 probably works similarly to TW3, Bethesda games, Bioware titles, etc. -- this also happens to your inventory whenever you save --> reload a game. First, the game reads your save file. It loads an "active" version of your inventory into RAM, and assigns new ItemIDs to every single piece of your inventory from top to bottom. It re-saves those larger numbers for every new save / quicksave, and they become the new default. This is how a program can correctly load older savegames. It compares the newer numbers with the older ones, and chooses the older, smaller number instead. (Computers can't "think", and items in your inventory are not "guns" and "medkits" to the computer. They're collections of data that it needs to be able to tell apart from one another using a numerical expression.)

Not all games are designed for unlimited, endless play. Not all games are designed for NG++++ etc. CP2077, as of now, seems to have been designed with upper limits in place (likely to avoid issues elsewhere in the engine, just like TW3).

The workaround for now?

Don't do it. Play the game until the end, then start a new game. Don't continue saving and reloading the same character for too long. Don't craft thousands of items at once.

Is that ideal? No. And hopefully it can be worked out in the future. Although...maybe not. No game that CDPR has ever created has ever been designed for ongoing, unlimited play. (NG+ was added into TW3 after its release; it was never intended. It was extremely difficult to get working without major issues, is capped at level 100, still gets wildly weird at higher levels, and there is no NG++. It can only be done once per playthrough.) CDPR designs their games with a finite structure: with a beginning, a middle, and an end. They are not meant to be played on and on like Dark Souls, GTA, or an MMO. They're meant to be restarted from the beginning with a new character and played differently. Love it or loathe it, that's the design.

So, for right now, the best step is not to put the game in this sort of situation. It's the nature of the machine. Or, more classically:

Patient: "Doctor! Doctor! It really hurts when I do this!"
Doctor: "Then, don't do that."

Now, the treatment can begin.

 My score dropped to 4/10. Now I know why their real support evaded my question in regard to new game plus... They have poor people skills.

As said by this guy,

I never had any problems with the Witcher 3 even when playing deep into NG+. They have a crafting skill tree in this game, it seems like passing the blame onto players in disingenuous. How many items should one be able to craft? How many times should one be able to save? How many hours is acceptable to clock for a single playthrough? I get that this game has a laundry list of bugs and a ton of fires to put out, but this one simply needs to be added to that list and not hand waved away.

neither did I have an issue with TW3 in new game+ mode, and as previously said it is a norm today. Close to all new games where you level gives the option to restart with new game+, it adds so much to replayability where you cannot do everything with one or two playthroughs.

CDPR is starting to show some true colours.

My endgame savegame comes in at 6MB. All my stash have disappeared into the abyss. Everything else I am carrying.

Another odd thing about my save files, that even my old manual saves come in at 6MB.

I haven't done any crafting.

There are people with 4MB corrupted save files, 30 or so hours into the game, and the issue seems to be widespread.

What did that Q&A tester do exactly in his 175hrs play through with which he is still busy with?

I see the moderators have now come out in their own defence,

Please remember that Moderators are just long-time Forum members that CDPR has asked to help keep things friendly and orderly in the Forums. We're not developers and our opinions and attempts to help process technical issues here aren't official statements from CDPR (as is clearly stated in the Forum Regulations).

Also, please remember that the first rule of the forums in to treat others with kindness and respect. Personal attacks and commentary on the quality of others posts is not the topic of the thread.

which is rich since the first moderate did attack the forum members and told them how things supposedly work. I know a thing or two about 'official' community management. CDPR must step in, if people are going to have corrupted save games between now and February then this game is going down in flames. As far as I know their next big patch is somewhere in January.

What im struggling to understand is that they had since May 2012 to make this game, sure they may had to rewrite/edit their entire game engine to accommodate new tech such as RT. They had more than enough time.

GTA 5 took ~3 years, cant tell me they they have been working on the storyboard for 3 years then dev for 3 years to release a game like it is in its current state...

I just dont know.
Game was announced early but wasn’t in full development until 2016 after Blood and Wine DLC was released. Not excusing them but they were not a AAA studio until Witcher 3 was released. What probably screwed them over was using their inhouse engine.

I really hope it is a contender, and that the game will be quality as promised and living up to the expectations. CD Projekt Red, another ‘good guy’, has been another company with awful employee policies and records. Moral issues in 2017, developers speaking out last year and the vagueness of CD Projekt in regard to these allegations. Then the recent quarrels in regards to Cyberpunk 2077’s development between management and staff.

Pretty much a repeat of BioWare, Bethesda and the Gearbox story. If Rockstar could pull off GTA V and Max Payne 3 under similar circumstances, then I really hope that Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game. Apparently, things are very rough at Rockstar at the moment. I just hope that CD Projekt Red isn't plagued with the same issues.
First few pages of this thread are interesting now its actually out :coffee:
