Cyberpunk 2077

I have a 3070 too, my gripe isn't performance, nor is it really the glitches, since that doesn't deter me. It's the shitty and bland game. But I guess you're a much younger generation of gamer who's used to that kind of thing, and doesn't expect great writing.
Please give us a few examples of games you consider to have great writing/story?

Ignoring you console peeps. You PC peeps how large are your save files at the moment?

I, who, don't craft or hoard items other than the 'collectables', my game save file comes in at 5 970KB so last night I decided to see how easy it is to push the save game over and above 8MB. I roughly went from 92hrs to 101hrs of game time to see if I could break my save file by hoarding through means of crafting. Reset my perks and dumped everything into creating items. My save game is still exactly 5 970KB. I checked it multiple times, the size never changes, no matter how many saves I make or items I add to my inventory or stashes.

The explanation by CDPR’s own moderators doesn’t even make sense in this context… What do you have to do to inflate your save file like that? There are players with 40hrs with corrupted save games, and most people claim to be hoarders and or crafters, and other had their save files go corrupt at 4MB.

Who knows, maybe my emptied out stash for one reason or the other broke this, I don't know, but there is speculation that too many crafting resources may overwrite stash ItemIDs... Just so odd at the moment, and CDPR isn't saying anything other than their forum moderators.

Apparently there is a PC patch coming out today, but it was made known from media notes, and could have been yesterday's patch.
Mine is sitting at 4549KB. Hopefully they sort it soon.

A quickly rushed mention, games with great stories I have played,

Utlima (the entire series)
Torment
Baldur's Gate (series)
Icewind Dale (series)
Sanitarium
Fallout (1/2)
Arcanum
The Witcher (2/3)
The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and yes also the ESO series)
Grim Fandango
The Dig
Full Throttle...

The list goes on, all these titles had great stories and don't get me started with JRPG.

For me personally, the Deus Ex story is better than CP2077, but Deus Ex wasn't a great story with the original being the exception. I also believe CP2077 borrowed too much active story in Deus Ex, and they retconned the lore last year to accommodate the game, and I easily noticed this in my playthrough. I don't have an issue with this, but it is like playing something I already played.

At it stands in 2020, I haven't played the AAA delight which is all console exclusives, but Doom Eternal have a better story than CP2077.

Bro you got me there. I didn't mean to disrespect. I can fully acknowledge that this game is but a candle to the sun of writing that is Mario, Pacman and Pong, the games of your distinguished generation. Don't even get me started on Sonic.

I'm gonna drop this game and go play those classics to get more cultured and be esteemed in your eyes. BRB.

To compare the total playtime between Deus Ex and CP2077. I did a stealth build in Deux Ex, 100% completion took me 37hrs, and doing all the addition achievements and the expansion took me 50hrs in total. Compared to CP2077, 100% took me 82hrs, every ending took me ~90hrs (I didn't track this time accurately), so there is a lot more game in CP2077 than in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Also, the Deus Ex reboot is strictly speaking two separate games, but I cannot argue it as such.

Overall, I would say that CP2077 is a more 'valuable' play through. It is only that by the time I have seen everything in CP2077 I have seen everything because the world is Groundhog Day. I tried revisiting mission areas I have completed, but most buildings are locked or abandoned. I would have appreciated continuity in those areas.

Did you guys know that you can own a cat in CP2077?

What led monitor are you using with that?

LG 32UN550 31.5"

I mostly use it for work (wow what a wonderful user experience a large 4K monitor is to work on) but it is also perfect for my personal gaming needs which is almost exclusively single player, story-driven games where 60+ FPS just simply doesn't matter that much to me. So I'd rather target 4K Ultra/High RT + DLSS to hit that 50-60 FPS target. Works for me.

Just one thing about game stories, not all people perceive game stories the same neither does many relate to stories the same. Personal preference. If someone believes that CP2077 have a great story then it is a great story for that person. My only qualm with the story is a sense of familiarity.

Which brings me to the question, how many of you who played the game have associated with Johnny Silverhand, and followed his character and or advice?

I for one liked the closure side mission of Samurai.

Wait, your 3070 is driving 4k with ray tracing on?

From that list I’ve only played Fallout and Oblivion. Going to be investigating the others...

If I might give my humble and honest opinion regarding the rocky release of Cyberpunk 2077:

I think that the true culprits in this fiasco of a release is CDPR's marketing team. This game should never have been promised to the masses. Finish and Klaar.

Take Crysis for example. It was super buggy on release and sucked the life out of any system that did not have the latest hardware, but that wasn't an issue because that's exactly what people expected. Crytek made it clear that they wanted to push the envelope and that you would need a beast of a machine to experience their creation. So much so that it didn't even release on the consoles of the time.

Now we have a game (Cyberpunk 2077) with the same ambitions to push the envelope of what is possible within a video game, that we saw back in 2008 when Crysis came out. The only difference is that they were marketing it to almost every machine on the streets.

This I think was their biggest flaw. Cyberpunk 2077 is a beautiful, rich and immersive experience but it should never have been promised to everyone. The "minimum" system requirements were not nearly enough to even get 30fps on low and as a result (in my opinion) many, many hours were wasted trying to get the game running on hardware that just wasn't capable of doing the job.

I believe if this game had been a PC exclusive that there would have been more than enough time to iron out the silly bugs that so many people encounter plus people would not have been so surprised by the terrible performance on older hardware.

My heart breaks for the developers of this game. It's clear as day that this was a labor of love but due to deadlines and unethical marketing strategies the magnificence of this title will forever be overshadowed by a truly terrible release.

I can only hope that a couple of years from now we will be able to experience this game as it was truly intended.

Meh, mine have two.
I'm not crazy,
cars only have 1 headlight? are the Megacorporations too greedy/stingy to put 2 headlights on their cars?
even the taillights, why only 1? and again asymmetrical? why?

or again were seeing a buggy game being released with things not finished properly,
or the explanation is initially the cars had indicators that would come on automatically, like in GTA
but didn't have time to finish that feature, so instead decided to add to the Future vibe, all cars only have 1 headlight.

or is there some other reason? maybe a self driving car feature, again unfinished?
and thats where the cars LIDAR/RADAR/Sensor suite sits?

Mass effect Trilogy
Max Payne Trilogy
The Witcher 3, not 2. It's a jumbled mess.
Assassins Creed Ezio Trilogy

A lot of trilogies here my friend.

I liked the story in Tiberium wars, thought the whole ancient cult from the dawn of mankind,
and a immortal leader who comes back from the dead, to lead mankind into genocidal wars, was a cool idea.

shame EA messed it up in the last installment and made a terrible last game,
didnt even waste my time, remember the good times that came before TW4,

alos liked Starcraft, all of them, especially the Terran campain.

wish they would make a movie on any of these games.

From what I read, the save file increases in size if you load older saves. All items in the older saves get new larger numbers allocated to them (so that the game knows which items to load. It looks for the items with the largest numbers and loads that). So every time you load an older save, and make it your new main save, the size of the file should increase.

My save file is about 4mb after about 40 hours of gameplay.
