Hey all ...

I hope I can get some outside views on this ...

I am looking for the best capped/uncapped packages available and was wondering how cybersmart compares with other ISP's but not in price ... in performance ...

I notice that their 100GB capped package has full line speeds in all areas and they "say" it's for super users ... but how good are they ? ... I am looking at getting 100GB a month 20mbps line for R1000pm (line included as I don't have a line yet) ...

Are their any better capped/uncapped solutions than this as I will be doing downloading and gaming so want the fastest possible line (both local and international speeds in mind)

Regards

Run, just run.

I'd rather recommend Mweb(many complaints, but still better).

Look at any other ISP, the reason there are not that many complaints, about these guys, is because they are avoided....

On the other hand I have been a damn happy Cybersmart customer. Their latency is very good, their uptime is great.

I really cannot complain about them.

Emissary_Of_Pain, remember to Supersize your account, another 50GB anytime data and 1000GB after hours data for R99 per month.

See that is the thing, there is such mixed feelings about CS ... ... I am almost tempted to see if I can get like a trial account (I don't know the costs involved in cancelling a service if they suck)

That sounds really good for just R99 ... but what makes me wonder if it is worth it is that I don't really stay up late enough often enough to use it to it's fullest potential

I'm also on capped Cybersmart and their local latency and speed are the best, international however is a bit sucky especially after midnight. I had Supersize on my acc but i could barely watch 720p youtube or do any streaming and downloading as midnight approached. I never bothered complaining, just requested removal of Supersize and the performance was much improved. Again my troubles were only at night, especially after midnight but now everything looks to be going pretty good.

I been using Cybersmart forever. They've had their ups and downs but I am currently using their home uncapped 10mb account @ R899 per month excluding line rental and it is hands down the best uncapped account I've ever used. That includes Afrihost uncapped equivalent, Openweb uncapped and Mweb...

if you need internet during the day you need to factor that into your search as well.

I recently moved to Cybersmart, I have tested Mweb Premium Uncapped and Afrihost Business Uncapped and this is by far the better solution.

Stay away from CS. Their mascot isn't a pig for nothing. The absolute worst ISP to deal with. Try Afrihost, Axxess, OpenWeb, WebAfrica, Telkom Internet, or MWEB, in that order.

Would that really be a factor if going with a capped package ? ... I mean, they don't really throttle/shape capped packages as much do they ?

Why are they the worst ? ... There seems to be a higher percentage of happy replies than bad ones ? ...

from what I have seen they shape none of your traffic. They MAY shape the supersize after hours bandwidth but I haven't noticed this yet

I haven't yet had to deal with support but I have been disappointed by support from mweb and afrihost. afaik, TelkomZA is the only support guy to be trusted ;)

I used afrihost and loved almost everything about it.

The only issue, live streaming sucked, youtube, supersport, etc etc etc... the forums have covered this.

if you dont livestream stuff go with Afrihost Business Uncapped and switch off the P2P filter via the clientzone.

if you want decent streaming, go with cybersmart and limit your torrents/usenet downloads to after hours.

Also note that Cybersmart ADSL users do not have access to a local news servers, you will have to use the free international/ipv6 newsservers or a paid for service.

Telkom's capped data is shaped.
