Howdy all,

So I am getting the new firefox from Mozzila .. and it is coming down at a whopping 5kb/sec (on a 4meg line) touching 6.8 at times! I had a friend download it via another ISP and had no speed issues.

So lets call support:
me> Hi there, are you guys having any connectivity issues at the moment?
support> No
me > Oh ... cause I am ... (explain the situation above) ...
support >yes there is an issue, but I am not sure what ...
me > Will this affect normal browsing too ? (cause I reckon things felt sluggish today)
support > wha ?
me > Will this affect normal browsing .. and night rider time too ?
support > wha ?
me > I asked a question ..
support > what is the question ?

So I just hung up .. the dude sounded half asleep I swear!

Oh well .. 23 minutes to go on my 13.3 meg download .. woohooo ... wonder how many alternative ISP sites I can browse in that time

Cancel with Cybersmart and get yourself another ISP. Trust me, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble ;)

Digi, your problem sounds more like a Telkom issue which hasn't anything to do with your ISP. The ISPs are mostly just resellers of bandwith and can't help you with speed/connectivity problems. In fact most ADSL issues are much closer to home, at the DSLam in your local exchange. It's probably congested. Call 0800-375375 and ask for your port to be reset.

You may have hit a particularly slow mirror. Did you try aborting and restarting the download?

On many occasions I've had the Mozilla site redirect me to what seems to be a mirror on the moon.

@Herman - I reckon it was ISP related .. some things (microsoft service packs etc) came down at 400+kb ... the mozzila ftp wasn't the only thing I had come in at almost exactly 5kb
@detritus - yeah I tried restarting .. but this was from their ftp site straight (no mirroring) - had another friend on another ISP confirm he got normal speeds (also connected to my exchange) - and as I said - other stuff came down at almost that exact 5kb speed too ..

Tis okay - I know my ISP has it's ups and downs .. it was more a case of me commenting on the half-asleep guy :)

Dude, I came here to read something about Cybersmart support, but your portfolio is SICK!!! Good eye!

'what is the question ?' I have had that on many occasions, not just Cybersmart. Seems all BEE work from the same script.
