Hi Guys. I have the D-Link DIR-825 R1 router that Afrihost provides for new Fibre installations. I want to do a firmware update on it since it is still on 1.0.1 and there is no port forwarding options on the current version. But I am struggling to find the correct firmware, best I can find is here: ftp://ftp.d-link.co.za/DIR/dir825%20(new)/firmware/ but that seems to be for the G1 revision and not the R1 like mine. There is a page for the R1 on that FTP but there is no firmware in it, only in the linked repo.

Has anyone updated the firmware on this router and can perhaps point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hey bud, I updated mine few months ago. Will look for the link and send it through to you

Reason I posted the ".ru" link is because the R1 router isn't in SA FTP. I had the same issue and went on a search for it. It is still DLink and is English as well.
There was a long discussion about this directly with AfriHost and that firmware on that FTP is NOT the latest version. There is an issue with the version numbers and version 1.0 is the latest version for the R1. They confirmed it with their hardware division. v3.x is from the old ones.

Oh I see, so d'link confirmed it with afrihost. That's good to know at least. I updated mine to that one on the website then there was another update after that through the auto update feature. I'm on 3.0.1. Don't have issues so won't switch back.

This is my second D-Link router from Afrihost in 2 weeks since i got my fibre installed Both of the routers do this. I will connect to the wifi for a while and it will be fine and then it disconnects and reconnects like it is stuck in a loop. Then after 5 to 10 min, it will be stable again. I have attached a vid in the zip file.

Dlink firmware is 1.0.1

If I connect to the Tp-link then I have no issues. D-Link is on Channel 1 and Tp-link router on channel 11

Had that same shitty experience with the dlink dropping WiFi all the time. Changed it out for a Mikrotik ac2 and no more issues

bit of a necro....

Did you ever sort this out? My MILs dlink dir825 R1 v1.0.0 is doing the same thing. So irritating.

I had the same issue when the channel was set to auto. I manually went through the channels to find one that works. Some channels are over-used depending on your WiFi air traffic in your area so worth checking that out.
