I found this article very interesting. In summary, it highlights the fact that many in Atlantis in the WC voted DA in the previous elections to 'get service delivery started' after not being able to achieve that objective with the ANC. Now that (thanks to the DA in my opinion) service delivery has improved, they will now vote ANC.

Witsand resident Nokwakakha- Mhlawuli is now a first-time home owner.

"I have been staying in a shack since 1999. Life was tough in the shacks; they burned most of the time. I lost my home to fire twice and one of my children died in a shack fire. But now I can sleep properly with no fear of fire burning down my home and, since the rains started, we've seen no leaks," said the ardent ANC supporter wearing a DA T-shirt.

"I'm just wearing it because I'm doing washing," she said.

"Joining the DA was just a strategy to get the development going. Some individuals among us decided to support the DA at the time because our councillor had failed us. We are now going to win this ward for the ANC come the elections," said resident Gcobani Limane.

Witsand resident Elizabeth Nqampleni said it was "true that the DA had changed our lives" but she and others would vote for the ANC.

"We are all ANC in this area but we had a problem with our councillor. But on the 18th we will vote for the ANC.

"Yes, the DA built us the best houses ever built in the Western Cape," she said.

I will feel nothing for these people if the ANC win the area and it reverts back to the hole that it was.
 
and that is why this country will always be headed in one direction.
 
LOL. It's like I said in the other thread, people don't vote on issues, they vote on popularity. DA may be the better party, but ANC are the bigger "bling". Uneducated and Stupid. Just the way the ANC likes it.
 
The contract in the USA looks more enticing as each day passes. Had enough really.

I agree with you completely. How utterly bat**** can people be?!

Like Zille says: You get the government you deserve. I'm cottoning on to the fact that these people are suckers for punishment. Damned masochists.
 
Definitely not the case that Atlantis will easily go to the ANC. The large majority of Atlantis is coloured, they interviewed two black people from the township who are ANC supporters. I doubt this is the case with most of Atlantis.

Still pretty stupid to vote ANC after what the DA accomplished in two years, especially seeing as they focused on the black area strangely enough.
 
They're idiots. But at the same time, many others who voted for other parties may have been enlightened as to the fact that the DA delivers, and vote for them this time around.

This will be my first local government election I'll be voting in, so that's at least a +1 to DA from the last vote :D

I doubt an opinion of few people interviewed highlights a fact. What it highlights is that Gcobani Limane is an opportunists.
 
I'm not all that worried. I am sure if you sift through thousands of people who voted DA last time you will find a handful of idiots that think the ANC will deliver now.

But I can bet for every 100 interviewed, 99 told the ANC to go #$%$# themselves :D
 
I'm not even going to waste word on these dumb idiots. If that's what they want then let them have it. The next time her child burns to a crisp she shouldnt complain. Njoy it!!!! U wanted it like that u dumb piece o ****
 
I hope the ANC does win it, and I hope all their services go to absolute rubbish. I hope their DA sponsored RDP houses get destroyed, their water and elec cut off and I hope the ANC councilors leaches all the funds from the municipality to fund his own vehicle collection. I hope they then realise that voting ANC was the worst move they could make.

I couldnt care less for those ppl right now...

Thanks bro. Making up for me. Why did no-one tell me these elections counted so much? I didn't register because I thought all these counted for was who your ward councillor was.
