So I moved my line to Afrihost after struggling with Telkom to sort out my issues. (Line is synching at 4MB but when I do a speedtest I get less than 1.00 and even as low as 0.40 down)
I live 700m from the exchange and the Telkom techie has been out numerous times saying he can't find an issue with the line. I spoke to a gent from Afrihost last week Friday and he said it looks like there is a problem at the exchange because there is an irregular synch happening at the exchange. He said he will log a call with Telkom and when the techie comes out I need to phone them so they can troubleshoot on the phone. More than willing to do that - but after waiting for over a week I have not heard a word from neither Afrihost nor Telkom.
So I phone yesterday morning to find out what is happening and the guy I speak to says there is no call open on my account... :wtf:
After venting on him (he did handle the call very professionally) he logged a call with Telkom - although he did mention he doesn't see the same errors that the guy I spoke to last week reported. So now I am waiting again for the issue to be sorted.
My question is - if Telkom doesn't pick up any issues and Afrihost dont see any errors, what else could be the problem???
Just a note - I did replace the router yesterday with a Trendnet router from Incredible Corruption (I was using a Telkom branded Netgear) but that didn't change a thing.
What other recourse do I have?? I am even considering doing a new installation at my house to see if I have the same problem on the other line. If I do then cancel it again - if I don't then cancel the problematic one... I am fed up.
