Dashboard Cameras

A few question for the guys who have the esquire dashboard cams:
-do you guys use card readers to offload the footage.?
-how does the software work that goes with the unit...
-how much footage do you get with the size sd card you're using.
And how does the battery last without being connected to the charger.
Thanks!

I don't have the nice one you ordered.... I have mine permanently connected to my USB charger (Battery is useless). I have a 32gig Micro SD card, it records about 2-3 weeks before it is full (@720p). I use one of those micro SD - USB converters to plug into my PC. Software on my unit is very easy to use (once I got it to engrish ;)).

A few question for the guys who have the esquire dashboard cams:

-how does the software work that goes with the unit... - as you plug in the card , it opens up software to watch the video and then you can save it if need be
-how much footage do you get with the size sd card you're using. -32 gig card - its takes a hell of a lot of footage, way more than I need and mine is on every time I start the car
And how does the battery last without being connected to the charger. - it doesnt last long, crap
Thanks!
fixed

Thanks Guys..! Must say I was a bit pissed when I started the unit and it came on in Russian...Esquire should either set the units themselves to English or provide instructions on how to do it. It only takes like three steps after you figure it out but it's still poor from them IMHO.

And one last question. When the sd card is full does it automatically record over the old footage?

Mine records for about a wek or 2 and then if nothing is needed I format on the camera and start again

Ok. I almost bought two 32gb class 4 flashcards but "luckily" esquire didn't have stock. I bought two 8GB class 10 ones in the meanwhile which worked out because on their website it says compatibility with all size microSD cards but doesn't specify speed but on the box itself it says only class 6 and above can be used.

Edit@ toxixbunny: I'll try and upload some video footage to give you an idea of how it performs once I get everything going tomorrow hopefully.

 1 x 32 gig is more than enough

It does the job but you cannot make out reg numbers, thats my only gripe

If thats the case then the prestigio roadrunner 500 may be a better bet as it can record 1080p and at closer range you can make out the number plates although the wide angle lens still makes it difficult.

Hmmm interesting, I mean if you take a normal video camera, the quality is far superior, even wide angle

Make no mistake there are very nice units available but they cost. Packing a good quality camera into a small package with GPS and all the other bells and whistles can be pricey. I think the prestigio also has a motion censor to record even when it is "off" and I know there is another one in the range that has infra red recording for better night time capturing IIRC.

I guess for the money there is nothing to beat it. I want to put another in the rear to record behind the car too.
