Data bundles not available 2011/02/07 [SOLVED]

Thank you Cell C for the 5Gig....it was loaded when I checked last night. Great stuff!

I just wish I could use it properly. I started downloading some goodies and it worked great for the first 30 - 60 minutes. Got a average speed of between 100 - 200KBs. Then the connection just went to the crapper big time. It got so bad I had to try and disconnect a couple of times and restart the downloads...but nada! I am connected, but no data! Eventually when I tried to disconnect and reconnect, it did not even want to establish a connection anymore.

*sigh*
 
Reception in and around 'Ockie Die TikTokkie' is known to be a problem! :D
 
All this free data and I can't stay connected long enough to use it! :cry:

Then it must be your dongle - Occie - check that out as well :p

Streaming music off the internet with my SGS and no disconnects.
Just bad upload speeds honestly.
 
Have to agree with most posters that CellC's doing a good thing by giving the affected customers additional data. It can only do their customer service rep a world of good.

Ya seems like there is reception. I live in 'n granny flat in Dalsig and seems like the concrete walls of the house on top of me is not so fond of Cell C. Will have to tie the dongle to a tree outside with a USB extension or something.

But very much impressed with the free GB's. Going to take my dongle to work now where there is reception to make use of it.
 
@ginggs did they double up your airtime as well?

(This is on another card still having cap left over) balance = R 0.00 Expiry date:16/10/2020.Free Data = 4690.00 MB.

:) Unfortunately not.

I'm surprised though that ronbo4GS didn't know of the problem, I spent over 26 minutes on a call to 140 explaining it to the agent, although I never did get a reference number or the promised call back.

I am concerned for contract users though, I hope nobody gets a surprise out-of-bundle bill for the data consumed while the bundles were unavailable.
 
Yes that could really sting contract users & bog down cellc lines if it happens.

Ouch, thinking about that now, if it went out of bundle on pre-paid it will have done the same to contract.....
