My phone has recently started to eat data at a alarming rate even when I'm not doing anything.I have not installed any new apps recently. It is burning through 400 to 600 kb of data per hour(10+ mb per day) even when i am asleep. In the past it used to be about 1Mb or 1.5 mb per day.Any ideas.

Maybe one of your apps is checking for feeds too many times, like Facebook.

Major data users in order of use. Google play services
OS Services
Download Manager
I havent downloaded any new apps recently

My usual reply to this dilemma .....

If you don't have a data bundle, data comes off airtime and is charged at a horrendously high rate. Load a data bundle and monitor your usage again.

(with thanks to venomous who saved me a pile of money when my airtime was disappearing)

Is there anyway to disable os services ,download manager and google playstore. They are munching 4 or 5 times more data than they used to in the past.Wondering if it is not some sort of virus.

Is Onava any different to My data manager? I allready know where my data is going ,just need to figure out how to stop it.

I think you can stop google services? Go into the data usage, select google services. Select "disable background usage". Note. you night have to switch it on again if you want to use play store.
