So I topped up my 20GB contract last month (24/11/2017) with a once-off 10GB bundle. Now although the once-off data is expiring first, my contract 20GB data has been used up since 1/12/2017.

Is this the way it normally works? It's almost as bad as Vodacom if so.

Yes unfortunately Telkom seems to get the data depletion totally wrong in almost all the cases. I loaded a extra freeme boost bundle on my uncapped LTE simcard and 4 speedtest on my phone on Telkom LTE destroyed that "all networks" data. I was furious because I'm on the Telkom network but the system used my freeme bundle data first instead of my uncapped data....

Yeah, that remaining once-off data is going to go completely to waste as there's no way I'm going to deplete my contract data and the once-off data because I'll then have to top-up on the 25th.
