Can someone explain how this roaming on mtn works? I have 200mb per month of TM data, but at my house I don't get reception so I have to roam on mtn, but if I want to use data on mtn then I have to enable data roaming on my phone. It then sends me all sorts of SMS about my data bundle being finished and wants me to choose options on some 8ta portal. I don't want to do anything wrong here....

Are you on prepaid or contract?
If the 200MB is Telkom only data you'll need to buy a "All Networks Data Bundle". You should be able to buy data via *180#.

Prepaid... The 200mb is TM.

Is the right procedure if there is no TM data coverage, to turn on 'Data Roaming' and then go to a portal to choose some 8ta options about OOB, and do this every time?

I know nothing about doing it via the portal... I only know that you can buy "All Networks Data Bundles" via *180# and then set your phone to roam on MTN.

I only roam on MTN with my TM contract (150MB all network data included) not prepaid but I guess it would be the same.

Perhaps the 8ta rep will check in later to clarify the portal setting. PM him?

On prepaid is the same. Don't play with network settings, just make sure that roaming (or specifically on iPhone data roaming) is enabled. Anything else will be done automatically. On TM network onnet data bundle will be consumed first, when you move outside coverage (roaming MTN), all network data will be consumed. In other words you can have active two data bundle simultaneously.

I think you should never give permission for OOB. It can be used against your will in future. I didn't see option to opt-out.

Hi Pooky

Please be advised that the TM bundles only works on the TM covered area. If you move to the area where there is no TM coverage then you will have to purchase the All Net data.

Cool, I purchased an all networks 50mb data, and it seems to just swap between them.
