Data Rollover calculator bust?!

So is there a confirmation on the "your current bundle is used up first, before the previous months rollover data is used" thing?

MTN sure don't do that, i don't see how Vodacom can do so either as it will only cause major issues down the line ..both in the marketing dept. and the billing department followed by a whole bunch of irate customers who feels they're being cheated.
MTN also allocate the newest bundle first, see here.

The problem [for Vodacom] with that is, then we have unlimited rollover. If i don't use any data for 3 months, with the bucket concept this will happen:

Month 1 : 1GB
Month 2 : 1GB + 1GB Rolled Over = 2GB
Month 3 : 1GB + 2GB Rolled Over = 3GB

So Vodacom MUST* distinguish between "rolled over data" vs "current bundle" , how else will they know the "age" of the data ?

*For their own sake

not quite... the max roll over is the size of your bundle

Month 1 : 1GB
Month 2 : 1GB + 1GB Rolled Over => 1GB
Month 3 : 1GB + 1GB Rolled Over => 1GB

I got a call from Vodacom after I made a complaint - I was told that your monthly bundle always gets used first - before any adhoc bundles.

So basically it is very dangerous to buy an adhoc bundle if you have a month-to-month bundle, as you'll probably loose most of the adhoc bundle. I think the safest thing is to just buy adhoc bundles as you need.

I believe that's the -definition- of "Ad-Hoc" bundle ;). I don't see why you'd buy them when you got a full monthly bundle...

I bought the adhoc bundle when my monthly bundle ran out on th 26 of March. Then from 1 April, only my new monthly bundle was used, not the old adhoc first which was still valid too).

My understanding was that you first deplete your monthly allocation and then eat into whatever was rolled over form the previous month.

But (like you) I find the vodacom.co.za description confusing, so I've asked for clarity.

hmmm...Vodacom seems to have edited the website to reflect this now..

well, I guess it was easier/more cost effective/more profitable to modify a webpage than to modify a billing system. :rolleyes:

But hey, at least everyone's on the same page now. :rolleyes:
