Dating . . . after the break up!

I started some serious scuba diving after the break up of a long relationship.

Had a lot of fun, met many people and travelled the world.

Difficult to mope when you are floating around in the Coral Sea.

yeah, search the internet, think back to some of the things you could have changed, and remember that for the future, but at the end of the day people follow their hearts, not their heads and often a chick will break up with you because "its just doesn't feel right any more." Not because of something she can even pin point. You can be doing everything mens health tells you; you can check off 100% on that list of yours and she may still not "feel it."
There is nothing you can do.
But you're right, once you've had a few months to cool down, and have met another chick, you start to wonder what spell you were under that made you look past all those terrible things about your ex. Women are just people with as many issues and problems as anyone else, and if there is a void in your heart/ problems with your confidence or whatever, having a girlfriends not going to fix that. Those are things people need to deal with in their own hearts. I think too often guys see women as some kind of mythical, almost perfect creature that you have to possess to define who they are. Its crazy man.

Really? Most guys I know aren't shy at all. They just make asses of themselves later but they don't have approach anxiety. Ask any girl if she thinks guys are too shy in general.

I'm not referring to shyness at all. A shy dude won't approach at all because he already knows he's gonna fail.

she is definitely now

sad thing is some other guy is trying to hit her up and she is probably enjoying it

Dude soccer playing or watching with friends is awesome ...do it bro ...

stop being a sad little girl and go out :p

Don't know how I would react if I saw her with someone else.

I do realise that I have to get out, so starting today going to force myself and let's see how it goes :)

The facebook thing is easy and goes like this.

Some random but good looking chick comments on a friends post.
You facebook stalk her a bit to see if she is single and if she is actually in your province/country.
You comment something on your friends status that references to her comment.
If she sees it she might start up a conversation.
When you feel the conversation on you friends post has gone well then just invite her as a friend.
From there you chat and ask her on a coffee date.

whalla. Done this so many times a couple of years back when I was still single. Test drove girls like cars just to find the right one.

That’s freaken genius!

Thanks for the advice :D

Don't have to forget it. Just appreciate it, and accept that it is over. It's still early days for you, but you will get there...

Accepting is the hard part.

As the OP said, people tend to put their ex's on a pedestal and I have been doing that.

There was so much wrong with our relationship, but as soon as we broke up I forgot all those things she did that used to annoy me.

Easy! Whenever you have a good thought about her, swop it with a bad or annoying one.

Maybe not so easy at this stage but will get better.

I agree with you. We have all been there.

But look at what I have put in bold. Remind yourself of this everytime you miss her. It helps.

Well it's been ages since I did that sort of thing but I never remember any anxiety/shyness. I suppose the difference is just that some guys succumb to it while others just aren't bothered then...

Edit: Actually thinking about it, we didn't have the Facebook thing back then either but I suppose that would cut down on approach anxiety for those that do have it.

Well, there you go. :)

Been single since last May. I cherish the freedom and inner peace I have now. Don't wanna go back there ever again.
