Dating . . . after the break up!

I've been single for about 3 years now. Although I'd like to get back in a relationship again I'm quite happy all by myself (save the few times you get that very lonely feeling). Most of the time, I have no worries. Come and do as I like, never have to phone and say I'm gonna be late etc.

My work has longish hours, my friends are less than useless as at providing opportunities to meet single women so I'm a bit screwed at the moment on that front. One day though, one day she'll come my way. Until then...

Also single now for ± 2 months after a 3 year relationship

My problem is where am i supposed to meet girls?
My friends don’t have any single woman friends, at 29 im a little old for clubs and also not very fond of the girls hanging out in those places, there are no real decent dating sites in SA so in don’t know

I don’t believe im the only one facing this problem, unless you guys know something i don’t ;-)

NB, thanks for the advice OP
Forget about making an effort to look for someone else, that's always the first temptation.

Take up a hobby and expand your social circle instead. I took up gyming and photography, and started hanging out more with friends of friends, and their friends etc. Heck I even went to a MyBB meet last year, something I wouldn't have done before :D

I'm giving online dating a try. Most women are too scared to meet me in person. They say they first want to get to know me better by email correspondence. After answering their nth email, I just give up and move on.

Protip: Women don't respond well to being thrown off balconies. Or having their fathers sued.

Dear Ladies

I am a clever lawyer who likes to wrestle and break dishes in my spare time and i am looking for a partner

reply and you will not be sued

I agree with you. We have all been there.

But look at what I have put in bold. Remind yourself of this everytime you miss her. It helps.

Will try it, I think perhaps I should make a list of all the things that irratated me so whenever I put her on that pedestal I can read through the list, hopefully it will make me feel better.

why you want to remember her ?

good or bad you shouldnt at this moment

and if you want to remember her use it as a learning curve for the next girl

I wake up in the morning and the first thing I think about is her, you know that saying "Trying to forget someone you love is like trying to remember someone you never knew."

It has only been 3 day's, I'm sure it will get easier but at the moment she is all I think about.

The only real way of coping after a breakup (and this might not be the kinda thing you want to brag about OR POST PICS OF THE NEXT DAY ON FB) is get your best friend to pick you up so you two can go talk man stuff at a local pub and get completely WASTED and just let loose in some club somewhere...

That's temporary, a few days later you'll be feeling like schit again. You can't do that everytime. Alcohol is actually the worst idea. What you need to do is mourn the end of it as you would mourn the loss of a loved one, it's no different. Then take up a hobby or two to keep you distracted while you get over it.

It really does feel like the loss of a loved one. I am starting gym at the end of the month so hopefully that will keep me distracted.

Thanks everybody for the advice, feel a schitload better after this thread
