Daylight Robbery !!!!

Beware of Maycom Trading who claim they are operating from Cape Town. They have the same Modus Operandi... in fact the agent I spoke to had the same voice as some of the other scam companies I have spoken to.

Perhaps in future if you suspect or know it's them consider asking them to call back in a few minutes so you can be ready to record the conversation, as well as everything that follows, basically gathering evidence and giving them rope to hang themselves. Then when they threaten legal action and you've given them enough rope go to the police with the evidence (cartridges, recordings, delivery receipts, emails...). Perhaps the company you work for will even be willing to sick a lawyer on them, not just with the intent of making them go away, but to put them away. Maybe they could even be sued for a cherry on that prison cake.

Sure it might take a little more of your time but it looks like they're pretty good at wasting yours and others while scamming people all over the place.

Our company has also just been scammed by C & N Imaging Products, they are now threatening legal action against us. Do they get away with it or have they?, I have obviously contacted our lawyer, but do they have a solid case? I have not even opened up the product, its seal is still intact, and when they delivered the product, another company signed for it as ours was closed for the Easter weekend. How do these scammers keep getting away with it!

Well, in that case it is easy, just deny that you ever received anything. I doubt they will even file a case against you, if they take you to court, they will lose on so many levels.

They have no case. Tell them to kiss your arse. Or come fetch their crap.

They don't have a case..

Send them an invoice for handling and storage of their product, as well as request that they collect said product... You signed no contract, you are not obliged to pay for anything.

Keep the sealed box and every time they phone tell them they can come and pick it up as you no longer require the goods.
In terms of the CPA you have the right to return unwanted goods unopened, especially where the goods were sent as a result of direct marketing (the lady who phoned your company originally).
If they threaten you, just quote the CPA and tell them that they goods are unwanted and you will not be paying them a cent.
Stick to your guns, this is very important.
Just refuse them flat out and eventually they will give up.
Instruct all your staff members not to allow or accept any more deliveries, cos they will try to send you more stuff.
In fact, when the delivery guys comes next time, tell him to take their other stuff back as it has been rejected.
If they give them any more crap, ask them to give you your official company order number.
If they cannot supply you with your official company order number, then they had no right to deliver the goods.
If they give you more crap, tell them that your company did not sign for the goods anyway.
They will not be able to provide proof that anybody in your company received the goods.

Everyone beware....

Dower Business Systems are in the EXTORTION Business !!!!

Can someone please give me advice on the following situation:

This company phoned me last week wanting to sell me some new kind of ink cartridge that supposedly lasts 5 times longer than a standard cartridge. They then asked me if they could send me a couple of these cartridges to test, an HP nr. 15 black and 78 Colour.

Being in the IT industry myself, I'm always willing to try a new product and agreed. Admittedly I was in a bit of a hurry so I might not have been thorough enough and neglected to ask the price.

The 2 cartridges arrived the next day and a couple of days later a quotation for R1798.92 !!!!! OMG... I nearly fell off my chair :(]

For this same price I could go buy 8 HP ORIGINAL cartridges and still save R200, so even if these cartridges can print 2000 pages (which they claim, but I HIGHLY doubt), they would still be more expensive than normal cartridges.

I googled their brand (Jetprint) and another company in SA also sells jetprint.(51649A HP Tricolour JetPrint Cartridge 350pgs R185.00)
Note the 350pgs claimed here versus the 2000 claimed by Dover. That is in fact LESS than an original HP cartridge (415pgs), and they expect me to pay R699 for it.

I phoned these people wanting an explanation for the rediculous pricing to which I got some verry hostile responses. They now expect me to pay their rediculous prices.

My question then is do I have to pay or can I just send their ripoff products back. Our office lady signed a delivery note, but other than that there is no documentation proving that I agreed to these rediculous prices.

Apparently there's a law regarding cash purchases which protects the consumer, which might be helpful.

Any legal or other advice would also be much appreciated.

Edit: My bad.. i quoted the wrong prices, here is my little comparison:

Normal Retail:
C6615A HP Black Ink Cartridge for 840 / 845C 495pgs R141.00
C6578D HP Tricolour Ink for 930C / 950C / 970CXI 450pgs R157.00

Dover Retail: (This is Theft !!!!)
C6615A HP Black Ink Cartridge for 840 / 845C 495pgs R699.00
C6578D HP Tricolour Ink for 930C / 950C / 970CXI 450pgs R879.00

I have no Idea what to do.... I am not an IT boffin, neither do I know much about cartridges... so needles to say, My company and I, mostly I fell victim to C n N Imaging Products...

 They are threatening legal action, by a woman named Bettie Nel 011 452 2126 in Edenvale, we sent them a letter stating that we are not going to pay for their sh.... product. If we do pay it will be a fraction of the cost of our regular cartridges and at a third of that price... which would amount to about R80.00.

They also came with the story of free test products and 2000 copies. Gave me a delivery note that I signed, did not give the amount... they then told us, should have known that it was too good to be true. In any case, we used the cartridge that only lasted a week. They're contact detail did not work, when they eventually contacted us, we told them that we were not satisfied with the product. Also when they delivered the product, I wrote on the POD that if the product does not work as promised, that we require a full refund... Needles to say, WE never made payment.

Do I comply to her threats? Or are we stuck and must we pay the exorbitant fee???

PLEASE ADVISE - I think I'm in big trouble as it is....:(

Tell them you'll see them in court, and you've laid a complaint with the consumer commission, if they have anything further to say, tell them to call your lawyers.

They'll most likely disappear.

Don't worry at all. When they call say "We know you are con artists. Come collect your crap. If you don't like it take us to the Small Claims Court. Kiss my arse. F off and don't call me again."

They are undoubtedly not with any credit bureau and thus cannot "blacklist" you. Don't pay. Don't worry.

We did exactly that. We sent them an e-mail instructing them to collect their unwanted goods from our premises within 5 working days, or we will throw the goods away. We also instructed the company not to contact us again, or we will file a charge of harassment with both the CPA and the police. We received a couple of threatening phone calls from the arrogant company owner. We challenged him to lay a case against us. That was 3 years ago... Have not heard from them since. We got a couple of final demand letters from their lawer (with interest added) but that was all.

There is no record of these guys ever successfully taking anyone to court. They are all big talk and no action.
Just tell them to get stuffed, take it as a lesson and move on.

That is their Modus Operandi... to threaten people until they pay up.
But the threats don't work if you know they are hollow threats.

oh... and warn all your friends.

Another company (possibly the same crowd of people) running a similar scam, but this time using "super concentrated" cleaning products.

I just got a phone call from their very pushy sales lady. I thought I recognised her voice and get suspicious.
When I googled their name I started seeing the same type of complaints....

Their name is Concentrated Solutions....

http://concentratedsolutions.co.za/index.html

They claim their product is superior, and they send you a sample to test.
A few days later they send you a 25 Liter drum and an invoice, and then begin to pester you for payment.
Exactly the same modus operandi as the other scam comapnies who used to send you the shoddy laser cartridges.

These are the names of some of their other scam companies...

We have had the same problem as other consumers of Market Pro Traders T/A Lazer Link. We were approached by telephone by Concentrated Solutions to purchase chemicals which would clean our engine parts. We asked them to bring us a small amount to try. A few days later we received an invoice for 25lt and again a few days later received the product even though on receiving the invoice we phoned to say we did not want this product until we had tried a small quantity. This product is absolute rubbish (we suspect it is plain water with some colouring) and cannot even clean a dirty dinner plate. They refuse to accept a return and have sent a statement.
We refused to pay. They refuse to give an address, which is not on the statement or invoice, and their FAX number does not exist.
My workshop manager received a call from Sean in November concerning de greases and soap and the sales person said that they would deliver some of the products for a trial. My manager was then contacted by Sean who wanted to confirm the order. My manager told Sean that the order had been placed upon him. Sean chose to ignore this statement and delivered the goods anyway. The goods were delivered in December and a 60 day account was automatically given without a credit application even being filled out. On closer inspection of the invoice we found that the two 25 liter "samples" were more than double the price of our current suppliers. My manager phoned the sales person - which he had never met - and told the person that he did not want the product. The sales person, Abraham, said that delivery charges had already been paid. My manager offered to pay for the delivery charges and Abraham refused to accept the return of the products. I am now being contacted by Lerato demanding payment. I have offered to return the unopened products to them but they will not give me an address. They have forwarded me a recording of the order but never were we told the conversation was recorde
I was contacted by Concentrated Solutions with a long story about how they are moving to new premises, and they are selling stock before they moved. I made it clear that I did not want any of their product because I still had half a 25L. I also explained that we are putting workers on short time and that I will be in trouble for purchasing their product, after I still have some left.
Nevertheless, Sean phones a week later and says how he apologises that I never received my voucher and that it will be couriered to me. The very next day he phones again and confirms the delivery and rambles something about our conversation the previous day, where I was let to believe this conversation is still about the voucher.
A couple of days later a 25L chemical is delivered. When I told the courier to take it back, he said he cannot, he only does deliveries.
I have sent Concentrated Solutions a mail about my disgust and received feedback, stating there is a recording of me accepting this delivery. In the recording you can clearly hear how Sean reduced the level of his voice to make sure you cannot hear what he said about the chemical or price.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!
