DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

You could have your setup on game mode but G-effects are definitely there. Thing is with the A-10 for example, you'll probably rip the wings off before you black out with a g-suit - especially with any significant loadout attached.

The maximum G-loads for the A-10 with a weight around 30,000 pound is +7.33/-3.0 G symmetrical and +5.80/-1 G asymmetric. If the aircraft is close to its maximum gross weight, the maximum G-Load goes down to +5.0/-2.0 G symmetrical and +4.0/-1.0 G asymmetrical.

I suspect it's similar for the SU-25. If you see yourself blacking out, check that oxygen switch - it's probably in the off position.

Maybe it is somehow limited by g force meters, because at speed i cant seem to turn sharply, in IL-2 Sturmovik, the WWll planes you can literally hang off the end of the stick, turn 90' but black out and probably loose a wing.

So how do you guys look around the cockpit? TrackIR? or hotas paddle?
I normally use my freetrack, but for a quick mission ill fly without. There also seems to be a really nice (head follows direction) command. Think its shift+F1

That mission with the Patriot missiles Sunday before you joined, I was up in the mountains with a full loadout but fuel was about half as I had been hanging around there for a while trying to find the patriot, he fired and I went into michael jackson mode (before he died).

half cuban inverted sorta thing, picking daisy's at the bottom pulling so hard I swear I could almost hear the rivets popping off the wings :D

Checked the g meter after and still said to Midnight that was like a 6.7/8 turn, dunno how the plane held together to be honest with all the hardware slung under the wings.

As with IL2, all planes have an optimal turn and burn speed.

Now these jets move at a fair whack faster than say an old spit or 109 when at pace and it will significantly reduce their ability to turn.
You can dig in the manual and also on Eagle forums for optimal turn speeds.

Even in the clip I posted if you listen to the engine tone when I engage the A10, in order to turn back and get a better angle on him, I reduced the throttle completely in the turn allowing me to bleed speed, and turn tighter than he was. I also deployed the flaps during the turn once the speed had dropped a bit to make it even tighter.

So if your dogfighting use the throttle/flaps to your advantage.
Once you get inside the opponents turning circle you can get your front facing weapons to bare on him. 9 out of 10 times the opponent will then try and get some distance or altitude between you, thats when you can power up, cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war :D

edit: Oh and for sure, TRACKIR is the bizznezz for these types of flight sims.

Yoh, that mission last night was tough!

It said in the briefing that when you get a spike on the RWR ('DE' were the radar spikes), to turn and put him on your 12 o'clock and then put your TGP 5 odd miles out in front and start looking from there. Well, I tried that. I would fly along slow as possible with HUD as SOI, get the spike, put him on my nose, set TGP as SOI, pull it in to +-5 NM off my 12, make SPI, markpoint, turn tail and run like a little girl. Any sort of hiccup through this procedure and you're in the hurt zone - I got launched on 4 times I think.

My main problem was that the RWR doesn't seem to be that accurate with regard to getting precise angles from the aircraft. I would get it as close to 12 o'clock as possible but often I'd see it refresh as being 10 or 20 degrees off and that's a major problem when you're searching the Georgian countryside in the dead of night. You don't have time to line it up perfectly and fly straight at it - BEEP BEEP BEEP missle launch looong before that.

Ended up searching for ages, ran out of countermeasures and eventually had to RTB with bingo fuel. Still keen on trying to get it right though...very challenging stuff!

Managed to find and kill some of those sneaky little buggers tonight but it wasn't easy. I had to go and rearm and refuel in Kutaisi...made it there with 200lb fuel after hours of searching. Vlerk, I found those little swines in the forest to the north. Killed the radar there and a few sams and a shilka but there was still one sam left. I got my final cluster bomb on the one sam's head from 28000ft and then I was winchester and RTB'd.

No.1,,, Tars went tits up after I was issued with yet another brand new A10, maybe the flight crew cut the budget and left the radios out?

Dunno, could hear you but not comm back on any radio. Comms to atc etc were fine though.
It looked like tars crashed or something, anyway had to go prep for meeting this morning then to bed.

Was a bit more organised this time round, keen to klap it again.

Must. Get. Back. Into. Flight. Sims.

Thread is awesome

New vid buy the Slamraam production.
Based on DCS Flamming Cliffs 3,

The battle for the airfield at Vody (or Marikana as we call it) continues.
New strategy, the A-10's cant get close enough so SU-25T's with anti radar missiles being used to clear some of the defences.
We cold us a few Ka-50 Shark pilots to.

My wing seems to overtake me through the left window at about 3.36

Huge wad of prestik...sorted! :D

Soooo, my boet had an HDD failure a while back and finally installed again. So last night he was doing final tweaks and whatnot. We hopped on for a quick test run and guess what - his game now crashes every time he joins MP. Faaaaantastic.

Track IR pro clip that bust, awesome kit, pretty flimsy though, my 2nd one thats toasted.

Gone the huge wad of prestik option for now. Will attack the other one with my Dremel and make something that is more permanent.

Midnite in lead position in an A10-C with Vlerk in tow in the SU25-T. This fateful picture was taken about 10 minutes before his final words were spoken enroute to "Marikana Hill" during the attack on Minvody - 16/02/2013. "I think I just saw my wing overtake me..."
