CoolerMaster Cavalier 3
Coolmax 140mm Silent Cooling Fan 500W PSU
ASUS P5KC DDR2 + DDR3 Intel P35 + iCH9 chipset
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 or Quad Q6700?
Chaintech 8800GT 512MB 256bit DDR3
Transcend JetRam 2GB DDR2-800 (x4) or DDR2-1066?
WD SATA-300 320GB 7,200RPM (x2)
LG L192WS 19" wide LCD

The idea is buy DDR2 now and wait until the price of DDR3 stops feeling like an umbrella being ripped out your ass! Is this a good idea or will it be better 2buy new MoBo at that time (and choose different MoBo now)? What would YOU do? FYI I haven't bought anything yet...

buy it i say

u can use 2 x 2gb sticks and still have 4gig memory

so i would say buy it

i dont forsee ddr3 pricing coming down anytime soon, maybe a year or so but then its still going to be expensive

the only way ddr3 will become cheap is if intel's next gen only run on ddr3

Kinda what I was thinking. Any idea on the difference I will experience between DDR2-800 and 1066?

Any Real performance out of DDR3?
Just pop 4GB's of DDR2 in like Killadoob says and you will not be disapointed!! (and this is comming from some one that went from 512Mb's DDR-333 to 2GB's of DDR2-800 :D)

DDR3 is NOT worth the cash! MINIMAL performance gains.

Not a good idea IMO, get a GA-P35-DS3L and get 2x 2GB DDR 800, the board you quoted has some problems with DDR2, not a terrible terrible board, but more of a curiosity.
Well you can get the Q6700 if you want to throw away money! Or go with the Q6600 and OC it, if you have a brain of course. ;)
Will be a sweet machine!

why do you want to buy old technology

why not buy the new 45nm cpu's q9300 and q9450 both very good cool low power cpu's

personally i would not buy a ddr3 mobo right now as intel will have their new socket out for ddr3 so in order to use their new cpu's you will need a mobo which will only support ddr3 i would imagine
