Dont worry, I got another 939 machine with 1GB DDR400

But I really need a dual core for encoding movies so I have to upgrade now to AM2 because its so cheap.

And as for speed, Im sure that there is not much difference between DDR400 and DDR2 800 in realy world usage, except that DDR2 is getting pretty cheap.

And I think the DDR3 runs at 1066 for now...

according to official JEDEC specs, DDR3 will come in DDR3-800, 1066, 1333 and 1600. The current fastest availible AFAIK is 1333.

in theory, DDR2-800 should be twice as fast as DDR-400...

for the guys that run 2GBs of DDR-400 with Vista, what memory subscore do you get in the windows experience index?

I get 5.6 with my crappy 2GB Transcend DDR2-800, while a friend of mine gets something like 3.7 with his 2GB of DDR-400...

But are your processors similar (and if intel machines, the chipsets play a role)? Because thats a big influence...

I get 4.5 on my memory sub score, but my system rating is 3.7, since my Geforce6600 takes it down
