Just copying and pasting my reply from another thread, as this thread is more likely to be seen in the future:

I have successfully cancelled my DStv subscription through their site, with no issues. You just go to your profile to do it. Click disconnect and there you go.

Two things to take note of. You can disconnect up to the day before your payment date. Just to be clear, as I don't want any misunderstandings. If your payment date is the 20th, you can cancel on the 19th without owing for the next month.

The 2nd thing is to keep in mind it isn't as immediate, as they claim. I don't know how long it took them to turn off my subscription but it wasn't in the first 15 minutes after clicking disconnect. I know it was within a 4 hour time span. So I would advise you not to do this at 23:59, 23:50 or even 20:00. I'd give a few hours to do it.

Just one other thing. I did not have any long term contract of any sort with Dstv. I was a month to month basis. There may be other terms applied to those of you in a contract with them.

So my Showmax stopped working on my Explora Decoder yesterday.

After three calls to the helpdesk and given the runaround with unlinking and relinking they eventually tell me that it will only work again on the 12th of Feb when the new Showmax launches.:mad:

Anyone else got this problem?

My Netogy Nova Android streaming box showed Showmax 2.0 listed in the Play Store when I checked last night - I did the update - but Showmax v1.0 wasn't removed from my app list - so now it has both versions displayed - I don't have an active Showmax subscription (I paused it a long time ago) so I can't check which one is actually operational... ;(

I've never used Showmax but I am a DSTV Premium subscriber and I thought showmax was part of the package. I just don't seem to be able to connect.

Is your DSTV decoder connected to your internet (LAN cable or Wi-Fi) as this is a prerequisite for any streaming content apps... the dish & LNB are only there to allow you to watch live DSTV channels, CatchUp content or Pay-Per-View movies...
 
I've never used Showmax but I am a DSTV Premium subscriber and I thought showmax was part of the package. I just don't seem to be able to connect.
Also, if you do decide to set this up now then just note it could have teething problems for these next couple of weeks.
 
Unbeliveably thick person at DSTV in N1 City.

Neighbour wants to pay annually and according to statement, is Standard subs - R 10 548,00, Access fee - R 1 380,00. Less annual payment discount - R 879,00. Total - R 11 049,00

She said, no, it is R12 807,00. She was adding the discount, not subtracting it. She would not budge and refused to fetch someone else. We walked to another counter and got sorted
