Please, can anyone advise me. I am connected to the internet and on DSTV connectivity checker it recognises that I am connected with a speed of roughly 53. Yet when I try to watch a programme for which we must be "connected" I am either queued or receive a message that it cannot download as I must have a connection. I have attempted calling Multichoice but get nowhere. I may be posting this in the wrong place, but am now so frustrated by this constant issue and cannot see where I should go. Thank you

Impressed with Disney+ service, sorted out all my probs with MC on their side.

In the end MC still charged R6.10 for one of the subscription services not requested, couldn't be bothered with that.

Call them again and insist on a specialist / supervisor / manager. Doubt there's anyone here who knows enough details of those problems which sometimes used to be complex. Else you'll have to try find a good installer.

BTW, once you're working okay, best to ignore when it later tells you there's no connection on your side (and yet that sometimes works anyway)... we all suffer from that, think it happens when their servers are down or reset.

Here's a fun one...

My ancient SD PVR's News24 offers more news items than the Explora, it doesn't have the Tech or Green sections.

DSTVNow and MyDSTV Android app related, unable to access it, not allowing me to even request a password change and "support" stated the apps have been off-line for 3 weeks now.

Is she talking BS or is it true?
Cannot find anything vis Google, but it means I am not able to stream DSTVNow.
Anyone with more info?

You still have a working SD-PVR? The last time I used one was in 2014 and even back then it was a struggle at best.
MC still supports DStv Touch?

Yep, and yep. Sometimes a major fiddle to use it now but worth it for things I mess around with.

I think their end-of-life was likely delayed by persistent use in other countries (slightly different model), and the older-still DualView also still works :- )

We also experience the timing issue! But have bigger problem. Am a new member so this may be the wrong place to raise this. I am running premium package with 2 Xtraview decoders. Primary is an Explora 3, secondaries are a Explora 3 and a Explora 2a. Have a 90cm dish with a new lmx501 4 port smartlnb.each decoder is connected directly to its own port on the smartlnb so the heartbeat is managed by the smartlnb. I had the dish "tuned" with the fancy meter 3 weeks ago. DSTV agent recently checked all 3 devices and said they were functioning properly...
My problem is regular break up of the picture and stop / start breaks in programs we are watching - this happens on live TV and on catch up or own recorded programs, also after we have put program on hold and then back on play. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this please?

Hi, welcome :)

Please note I'm on a forum break, maybe one of the others with some experience or @Geoff.D will help further.

Long thread, so no idea what you're referring to.

Firstly, on which of the 3 decoders or is it on 2 or even all of them? Primary 3, Seconday 3 and/or the 2A?

It certainly doesn't sound like any install issue, if one unit only possibly a hardware fault but there's much re software / authentication concerns too these days.

Be patient here but if not getting anywhere ask the call centre for a specialist.

I'm impressed, the oldest I've seen in the wild recently was a DSD 990 which is about the same age as your SD-PVR.
I'd love to see stats of what's still active out there, I've always wondered why MC are still persisting with DVB-S when surely the market must be flooded with DVB-S2 devices.

Thanks - the timing issue I was referring to is the occasional state where the times are incorrect on the list of upcoming programs for one or more (I think it is called the I-plate) we see the correct programs but at09:00 it may show the time as 05:30 and can stay that way through multiple programs. Sometimes a reboot solves it.

With regard to the picture disruption problem I am going through a process of moving the decoders around to see if it is location or one particular device. Some of my coax is 5+ years old, but I am reluctant to recable unless I am sure it's the problem. I replaced the lnb recently and it appears to have made a slight improvement.

Dstv now is absolutely horrible tonight... Am I alone?

I see alot of channels showing “no information available”!
1. Same story on my Explora, but only for Mon. & Tue.
Side effect of that, or maybe an improvement - the i-Plate (info plate) now shows the whole week instead of just 24 hours!
(And the missing Mon/Tue info is there.)

2. Anyone here into the sci-fi series The Orville ?
The very delayed season 3 has started and starts for us on Wed. 24th Aug. @ 22:00, but for some weird reason it's now shifted to the 103 1Magic channel... was on 115 before (and maybe 101 for season 1?) so affecting which packages can now see it. I think Compact will be the new loser.

Locally around 800 units only about 3-4 years ago, but plenty still use the old 1110 / 1131 / 1132 models - I think all of them are capable of DVB-S2 but held back by the SD PVR etc. as they still couldn't ever do HD.

Some of the behaviour you listed can't be caused by a faulty install, decoder will likely need replacement. Sounds like you'll manage fine, and replacing cables that old is a good idea you'll benefit from.

Newer online guide - 107 MMovies 3 finally fixed to show correct channel position, but now 103 1Magic is missing

I have narrowed it down to a specific Explora 3 decoder that gives the picture disruption wherever and on whatever LNB port i put it on. I managed to video some of the breakup behaviour yesterday, so I shall take it in to Multichoice Randburg (it is a nuisance that I have to take all 3 decoders in together before they will even look at my problem) where hopefully I can convince them to replace the decoder (it is covered by their insurance program.) Thanks for your input - each bit of feedback helps to build up a picture and to inspire me to try something else.
