But isn't it that latest firmware that is said to be the cause of the problems many are experiencing? If so, then what's to stop my remote failing to talk to the decoder again?

To do flash reset on the 1110 decoder, do the following:
Press Reset. When "dl" flash on screen, press and hold TV/Music and P+ simultaneously. Release the buttons as LED's start to flash.
Unfortunately I spoke too soon, above. The intermittent problem with the remote has returned. Looks like I am going to have to shell out for a new remote (approx. R150, which is a bit nuts when you think an entire boxed decoder with remote with dish with installation is less than R600!!)
Yeah, checked those out, also at Game and even Pick'nPay, but those basic remotes only work with the 'old-style' decoders -- not with the newer generations, for which the cheapest start at R129 and go all the way up to R199. Game had an 'all-in-one' remote on special at the weekend for R99, but our local branch had no stock and neither could they confirm it would work with all DSTV decoders.
Okay, so since my initial post, I had an accredited Dstv installer have a look. He seemed just as puzzled. The remote works, changes channels etc, when the plasma is switched off. The minute it goes on, the decoder doesn't respond. Previously, I tried blocking any infrared inteference between the two, n? change.
The guy called customer services and attempted to restore factory settings. Still having the same problem. Now what?
Same problem here, no amount or resetting helps and I'm unable to factory reset as the remote is not being acknowledged by the decoder at all. Any suggestions at all?
