Decoder not responding to remote

But isn't it that latest firmware that is said to be the cause of the problems many are experiencing? If so, then what's to stop my remote failing to talk to the decoder again?

Something got corrupted after the upgrade. Flash reset fixes it... The problem will not come back.

Yours is the first single decoder I've heard of. Before this we thought it was HD's only.

To do flash reset on the 1110 decoder, do the following:

Press Reset. When "dl" flash on screen, press and hold TV/Music and P+ simultaneously. Release the buttons as LED's start to flash.

Being having same prob with my DSD 1110 decoder remote issue and geezer's advice worked

Thanks

Unfortunately I spoke too soon, above. The intermittent problem with the remote has returned. Looks like I am going to have to shell out for a new remote (approx. R150, which is a bit nuts when you think an entire boxed decoder with remote with dish with installation is less than R600!!)

sure i saw remotes on special at makro or PnP for like R99

Yeah, checked those out, also at Game and even Pick'nPay, but those basic remotes only work with the 'old-style' decoders -- not with the newer generations, for which the cheapest start at R129 and go all the way up to R199. Game had an 'all-in-one' remote on special at the weekend for R99, but our local branch had no stock and neither could they confirm it would work with all DSTV decoders.

If you talking about the one-for-all remotes, they do work on DSTV (HD PVR and standard) but the codes they give in the book are outdated had to call the helpline for latest codes, BUT there is no info or exit keys and missing one colour button so you lose quie a bit of functionality. I know i paid about R80 bucks from pick and pay for dstv remote that works with HDPVR it doesnt have that weird ffw rrw and play button in one (which my wife broke hence the reason i had to get a new one) not sure what normal cost is though.

Okay, so since my initial post, I had an accredited Dstv installer have a look. He seemed just as puzzled. The remote works, changes channels etc, when the plasma is switched off. The minute it goes on, the decoder doesn't respond. Previously, I tried blocking any infrared inteference between the two, n? change.

The guy called customer services and attempted to restore factory settings. Still having the same problem. Now what?

could be hdcp problem ? why else would it not respond only when the TV is on, try connecting the TV with the AV input and not the hdmi, know it defeats the purpose but at least you can confirm if that is the problem

So a few days ago... My decoder locked up again (what's new), and I proceeded to power cycle it for a reboot. Much to my surprise, just before starting to scan for the channels, it received a software upgrade (I was like, fsck what did they break again now), rebooted, and started up fine again.

No issues what so ever with my remote since. None, nudda, zip. Frankly, almost feels like it's better than what it was before.

how do you put in the pin number if you cant use the remote?

These new decoders are a piece of kark. Can't believe they sabotaged my trusty old decoder for this kark!

unable to factory reset

Same problem here, no amount or resetting helps and I'm unable to factory reset as the remote is not being acknowledged by the decoder at all. Any suggestions at all?
