Defective New Scirocco R

Digit 11 is V which is Portugal according to the table in the link I posted. All Scirocco's are assembled in Portugal even the previous 2.0 TSI I had. I also belong to sciroccocentral.co.uk and its widely known that the Roc's are assembled there.

The WVW does confuse the situation though. I'm thinking its more related to the Brand/Manufacturer and their origin.

The first 11 digits of the VIN is WVWZZZ13ZEV......

Yip, you're correct. WVW isn't region per se, but in combination with 11 you can get the region (sort of). :)

Mine is WVW########W. Germany.

I was secretly hoping for a germany assembled version even though it would have been a miracle of sorts. I have a feeling that vehicles assembled in germany have much better build quality.

The roc starts to squeak/creak after some time when going over any bump/dip thats perpendicular to the road. Especially if you're driving over it at an angle.

One of the guys from Goodyear told me tyres are designed to drive over obstacles at 90 degrees. Also my old VW manual said to approach anything as close to 90 degrees as possible.

I try to as much as I can. The problem comes in with vehicles with standard lowered sport suspension. The area that I park on a daily basis has these nasty gulleys for drainage and if I dont go over them at an angle I hear a nasty front bumper scrape.

What makes my situation worse is I park in a multi-storey parking lot and the third ramp is so bad that the R scraped slightly going up it. The previous roc was 15mm higher so I used to drive really slow and it was fine. With the R, I was literally crawling and it still touched. Its really painful when it happens.

.....so my mate owns a Scirocco.... 20 000 on the clock... guess what light just came on... yep Check engine

Hope he is not going to have the same hassle.

Wow, just...wow!

And here I was wondering if a VW Polo GTI would be a good buy next year if I have to get a new car next year, that's definitely VW off my list. A friend of mines mother went through a similar thing with her 2007 Golf 5 1.9 TDI back in 2008, where the turbo failed, I didn't get the full story but I remember him telling me it was an uphill battle dealing with VWSA.

The Scirocco R is one hell of an expensive car and it only gets far more expensive with even simple extras, why can't VW treat you properly!? You are paying a hell of a lot for a product who's competitors bring similar performance at a lower price with better customer care. VW have become far too large for their own good and are now bullying their own customers, this is just so frustrating to read.

I think I did post this on another thread - A friend of mine bought a new Polo GTI a year or two ago. VW ended up replacing the engine under warranty due to his many issues (before 20,000k's, I think). I think he had gearbox issues as well.

Also, apparently the Polo GTI has directional tyres. These were fitted incorrectly after a service (at VW), resulting in allignment/handling issues. Whichever tyre store he went to to check out the alignment picked up on it immediately.

The car drives brilliantly, but his experience has me worried about the (Polo) GTI.

I apologise for the lack of updates guys. I have been unwell and honestly did not have the energy last week to update the various forums.

The Scirocco is imported as its manufactured in Portugal. From this experience and the stories that people have shared with me I've realised that VWSA is the problem here. They're incredibly stubborn and only take some form of action when customers go to greater lengths to fight them.

The lastest news is that there was a meeting held between VWSA and the dealership this past Friday to discuss a proposal. I was informed that the outcome of that meeting will be confirmed by today as the proposal needed to go to a higher level at VWSA for approval.

I will keep you guys updated once I receive feedback from VW. Thanks again for the support :)

So what was the end result?

UPDATE: I was informed of the proposal on Thursday. VWSA's offer is to refund me the amount on the invoice.

I'm not happy with this offer as it basically leaves me without a car and theres no compensation for the inconvenience they've put me through. They're basically saying take your money and @&$# off. They're also taking away the courtesy vehicle.

Theres a meeting tomorrow to discuss the refund further. I've got a counter proposal in mind which I will table. I just hope the dealership will come through for me. It basically involves using the refund from VWSA to purchase another R and offer it to me as a replacement.

I'll update the thread with the outcome once its finalised.

You still want another VW

Lol... I know. My previous car was a Scirocco as well and it only visited the dealer when the annual services were due.

So I guess I'm hoping for the same experience as theres nothing else in the market at this price range that I like.

I'd take the money and run straight to the nearest BMW dealer if I were you. M135i 3-door just seems like more car for your money.

On a more positive note u got ur money back

Not exactly. The CPA states the customer is entitled to the option on whether to replace/refund/repair. They aren't budging on their refund offer.

And they're only offering a refund because of the steps I've taken.
