Defective New Scirocco R

If there was another car that I liked I would take the money and walk. Only other cars I would buy would be the upcoming RS3 or GTR... and I cant afford either :cry:

Why not an S3? If you are after a 3 door it is available as such, though the nicest one of the three options would be the S3 sedan, beautiful car that.
 
The S3 is also one of the better looking cars but the design for a performance vehicle is a bit bland. Not to mention a normal A3 with a S-line kit makes it indistinguishable from an S3 apart from the four pipes at the back of the S3.

The S3 sedan is beautiful but I dont need the practicality at the moment and prefer a coupe/hatch. The Scirocco just ticks all boxes for me personally.

Have you taken one for a test drive? I'm sure the understated styling worries are made up for by how it goes, plus I'm sure you'll get much better service than at VW.

Aye the S-Line kit does take away the exclusivity somewhat, but honestly I have yet to find a plain A3 with it on, so it isn't too much of a worry in my mind.
 
No I havent, I know the performance will be epic. Still I cant help but be drawn to the Scirocco R. I've owned the normal Scirocco 2.0 TSI for the past four years and I'm still in love with the design. The R isnt as powerful as the new engines used in the S3 and Golf R but I think its the perfect blend between performance and design.

I've even considered the Scirocco facelift thats due later this year with the same block as the S3/Golf R but they''ve killed the design trying to make it fit in with the rest of their range's current angular design language.

Have to disagree here... Facelift looks better.
 
My rocco just hit 70 000 km and it has been a pleasure to own. My Golf 5 was also hassle free. Sometimes you just get a bad egg no matter what brand you buy.
 
Cars are like computers hey, some will have defective parts, some will fail, then you get a computer, same as every other that's had issues that just lasts and lasts and lasts...

It's mechanical... it happens.

You'll probably get whatever car you want, never have issues, then get a new car, also same make as the new car you want to get and have endless issues.
Can't be put off VW completely because of 1 of the cars.

When you drop half a bar on a vehicle, it's not unreasonable to expect a bit of QA though.
 
Sorry for the delay in providing feedback guys.

I've taken delivery of a new replacement car last week Friday and its flawless. This is only because the dealer stepped in again (after VWSA took over my case) and offered me a replacement instead of waiting for the refund from VWSA. They will fight VWSA regarding the defective car and the refund. They didnt have to do this as it was VWSA's responsibility after they took over my case.

Buying any vehicle is a gamble and its the luck of the draw whether you get a lemon. I've come to realise choosing a good dealer that will come through for you is your saving grace. Dealing with VWSA has been a nightmare but Barons Woodmead has always treated me with professionalism and respect. Throughout this entire saga they always made me feel they valued me as a customer and appreciated my business. Once VWSA took over my case I stopped interacting with Barons. VWSA has incompetent people working in every single department that I've interacted with. Their decisions and policies make no sense whatsoever and its never in the favour of the customer.

I think if I did not post this story up everywhere and taken the steps that I did I would have never gotten any sort of result from VWSA. They only offered the refund as they were pressurised to do something.

If you're in the market for a VW or any car for that matter choose your dealer wisely by finding customers online or wherever, to find out how the after sales service was when experiencing problems. They ultimately can turn your bad experience into a one you can walk away from with an amicable outcome.

I'd like to thank everybody again who's supported me through this crazy experience. Thank you for commenting on my post on facebook and sharing it. If it wasn't for your support I doubt I would have gotten the result that I have now.
