It might be specific to certain areas depending on popularity of both this product as well as general tower usage from regular mobile users, which is contributing to contention.

Problem is, it was absolutely breathtaking for over 3 months before this started back in January. Otherwise I'd have simply cancelled in the cool-off period.

So long term for others currently getting good performance? I honestly don't know.

I'm certainly glad I didn't cancel my ADSL line though (I initially seriously considered it).
 
I have an account in Bedford gardens and my girlfriends folks in sandringham. They were perfect before and now they both get similar poor performance of around 1mbps between 6 and 10pm. Really disappointing, I had a feeling about this happening especially when some people try to max out their downloads every month, can't see the network sustaining it. Too good to be true I guess, hopefully Telkom can sort it out. Latency isn't great either.

Just purchased a 200gb LTE package from Telkom. Had it for about 2 weeks. Never connected at LTE at all always HSDPA+ very very slow speeds of below 3mb. Thought it was a signal problem so put the sim in my galaxy s6 and took it with me to work. Absolutely no LTE connection EVER Boksburg Bedfordview Edenvale and Kempton nothing? Has their LTE network failed completely?

I'm trying to replace my ADSL line that has been giving problems since last November and still not fixed. Vodacom LTE is by far the best but soooo expensive for data. This 200gb + 200gb night surfer is only R1599. 400gb data on vodacom is probably about R8000.

What's the use of Telkom giving you any amount of data a month if you can't use it?

Any suggestions on ADSL replacement needing roughly 300gb of data monthly?

@RainerZa thanks for the heads up about the tower. Decided to pop the antenna on myself. Pointed in the towers direction tweaked it and hit RSRP 79dBm. Quickly downloading something will post speedtest results just now. Steam peaked at 7.1mbs, the division 25GB downloaded in 1.5hours. Soft capped long ago everything is still flying.

Good to hear the tower worked for you. Do you by chance get high pings and severely reduced speeds between 21:00 and 22:30 as well?
 
It's the same on the capped accounts as well. In the evening the speed takes a solid nosedive. All you get from the support people is restart the router, even though no amount of telling them it's not a problem with the router

Actually had great speeds tonight as well; for the first evening in a while.

Maybe the outage earlier today fixed it? :)

U sure the devices that you are using work on the TM lte network? Ie the correct bands?
 
I downloaded 25GB in about 1.5 hours you will easily do 300GB. I have done 90GB since Wednesday last week.

What area in CT are you?

Have you also been experiencing very bad 6-10pm speeds?

I'm in Blouberg and want to get this deal but skeptical with what I've read on this forum. Seems that it's mainly Gauteng people with the issue. But want to confirm this first.
 
No I'm in PE

I also have slower speed in the evenings, but its been a little better lately. I dont use the external antenna because in my case it doesnt make a huge difference for me. I have line of sight of the cell tower ( +- 500 m )

I use the two bunny ears but have them adjusted horizontally. I also point the front of the modem towards the tower. So ( looking at the front of the modem ) I get best reception when the antenna's are adjusted like this :

Hey thanks for the reply. Iv tried multiple routers and a galaxy S6 phone. No LTE at all and terrible speeds.
Had a tech here fixing the ADSL line eventually and he had a Telkom account on his cell. He said the speeds here are terrible and he also had no LTE connection. Iv tried logging a call but I don't have much hope in getting a result from Telkom.
 
I would like to try out this service, I'm currently staying in Kempton park where they still have 150 spots available but in April I will be moving to Midrand where there's no coverage for the promotion. I will have LTE-A coverage though. I know that Telkom says that I will need to use the service at the address that I signed up with. What happens if i decide to use at a different place? I know one thing I can't do is to complain about bad signal..
