Depression.

You mention both anxiety and "ability to deal with stress" those are two very different beasts - though they often happen at the same time.

Anxiety - this is a mind game thing. You can force a lot of this via breathing exercises & meditation etc. Yes it does work. With enough power of will you can recover from panic attacks / high anxiety levels. It's suppressing the immediate effect though (breathing & mind over matter). Meditation is sorta in between immediate an long term. Usually anxiety has an underlying cause though.

Stress. Already answered - see here.

Natural remedies are a waste of time. I'd also question if it was the cigs keeping you stable. This stuff goes in cycles. A couple months back I was on a ultra higher pressure assignment and got regular anxiety issues as a result. So it's not really like one has a baseline...it fluctuates with circumstances.

Mind is not the problem, it's the matter. Body cannot handle the anxiety that the mind can handle, which has created an imbalance. I can have interesting and amusing dreams and still wake up with bleeding inner cheeks and sore jaw from clenching down so hard. ]

Cigs were definitely helping and it showed in blood tests taken a week after stopping smoking and 12 weeks later. Triglyceride levels increased two-fold during that period.

go to your dr. and ask him/her about Indorel. they might prescribe 40mg per day
I've been using it for the last 4 yrs or so

Indorel is not a natural product and has many side effects, including chest pains which I already get.

Planning to try kratom, but it looks like it can only be ordered online. Don't know if anyone else has used these herbs.

Please be advised that kratom, while not a terribly dangerous drug, is a legit drug. Don't be fooled by its legality and 'herbal' nature. Do your research before you take it. It is awesome though, in my experience, but I'd not rely on it for mood moderation outside of recreational use.

If the anxiety is genuinely a real issue, then no herbal remedy in the world is going to work a tenth as well as a prescribed benzodiazepine, which come with their own dangers, but work VERY well in the short term. In the long term, mindfulness is probably your best bet.

Also, I presume you are abstaining from caffeine and alcohol? Because that is absolutely necessary in the context of any sort of anxiety-related issue.

No, it's the mind that rules the body.

Also, Just a generalnote for people going through tough times who do not understand whats going on. just stop caring, people, things, times change. The world only makes sense when you force it to... In the end you only have you.

These are symptoms of depression. When you think you only have you. Although most of your posts everything is about you. Anyways....

No. The world only makes sense when you stop forcing it to your perception. It only starts making sense when you accept it as it is, not as you want it to be.

100%. I would just add that besides this acceptance, one can often choose their perception of a specific set of circumstances i.e. either be happy or be miserable about exactly the same event.

Thoughts, Jings?

I think it was a brilliant analogy

Really? Well, let me be sillier. What controlled the hand that picked up the can of baked beans. What chose the baked beans, as opposed to a less gas-producing item such as say, a celery stick?

What guided the beans to the mouth, and instructed the mouth to chew?

And on we go ;)

I think it was a brilliant analogy

It's a stupid analogy, as neither the body or the mind is in control of an involuntary action of beans fermenting in digestive juices and gas escaping.

What is relevant is that your attitude (or will or mind) directs and controls your conscious actions.

Involuntary action is the matter over body. It doesn't matter how much the mind is in control of thoughts or emotions because the outcome is the same. The anxiety I'm experiencing is the body telling that there's something out of whack which needs fixing by taking action. Mind over matter is not fixing the root cause.

So then the entire analogy is even more ridiculous, according to you, as it is beans over both mind and body. Stupid analogy is still stupid.

Beans is not the point, but I guess it's easy to miss when you're just focusing on the beans.

so you disagree that depression is a medical condition?or let me rephrase that, an illness?

Kratom might not be the substance best suited as it reported to increase heart rate, of which mine is already high to the elevated levels of triglycerides.

Luckily, an alternative has been found to prescription drugs. Bought some Sceletium tortuosum yesterday afternoon. Side effects are few. Last night I had a mild headache but today it's gone, slept like a baby. Also not clenching down on my teeth so much.

About once a month is coffee time, and have maybe one or two drinks on a Friday, if that. Not in amounts that would contribute to anxiety.
