Diablo 3 - Builds thread

I would immediately drop Bloodthirst, as the 3% lifesteal is only 0.6% in inferno. So unless you can do massive amounts of aoe damage, the lifesteal wont do much for you.

Ok, you're in hell somewhere right?
Hmmm, personally I would swap Beacon of Ytar for One with everything, and then try stack one type of resistance on your gear. Its a cheap way to get your resists up. Eventually you will just want to go for +resist all gear, but thats a lot of gold :p
You've got a decent amount of HP, and by your skills I'm guessing you prefer to kill things fast, perhaps try blind with faith in the light (if you are high enough level) for the 30% damage boost. And give sweeping wind a go instead of SSS, I find you can use it much more often which offsets the lower damage it does. You do need at least 10% chance to crit though for SW to work.
Do you find you are often on cooldown with Serenity and breath of heaven?

I use them as soon as they come up... So they are always on cooldown...

Any advice on types of items to go for?

I'm aiming for a dual wield build, so for me I look for +attack speed, Life on hit, and chance to crit. If I swap a shield in it actually still works pretty well, just a little less LoH, but you can usually get a ton more armour and resist all from a shield. What really makes a big difference is your base attack speed, so I am for stuff with 1.4+ base attack speed, gets spirit up faster, and I crit more often so that SW gets to level 3 faster. So thats usually daggers, swords and fist weapons.
But you can easily do a 2H weapon as well, I think you need a bit more gear for it though. Havent looked into it much, and the skills are way different.

In the end, just fiddle around. I've seen so many people claiming to have beaten inferno with skills that leave me utterly confused :p Find what works for you and run with it

This is my build for interests sake - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WYgifh!ZYU!ZcYYYa
Might give MoC a go this weekend, see if the extra damage helps me get through faster

I am lvl 49 Wiz

HP: 15k
DPS: 3.2k
Can't remember my dodge and resistance stats :o

Is the DPS and HP on par for this level and class?

It is my intention... When I first ran through the passives I wanted to take all that gave me +life in one form or another. Only after playing with it did I realise that my life hardly ticked when I was hitting. There's the one that reduces damage by 50% and removes fury cost of all skills when below 20% health... may go for that. I just want to try a really different build that doesn't rely on the expected skills...

Yeah this LoH/Life steal%/Life Regen thing has suddenly become very important to me.
So I thought I'd try something a little different last night which seemingly seems (lol) to have paid off.

Here's my new build.

LMB: Cleave with the rune that increases damage to 156%.
RMB: Hammer of the Ancients with the run that increases dmg to 270%.

Slot 1: Ignore pain with the rune that increases duration to 7s.
Slot 2: War Cry with the rune that adds life % and 310 regen per sec.
Slot 3: Battle Rage with the rune that increases damage gain to 30%.
Slot 4: Threatening Shout with the rune that slows attack speed.

Passive 1: Nerves of Steel - 25% Increased armour.
Passive 2: Inspiring Presence - Shout durations double + regen 1% of life for 60s.
Passive 3: Bloodthirst - 3% dmg converted to life.

While I'm still settling on the RMB skill (and 3rd passive), I end up with ~700 regen per sec with 20% increased armour, 30% increased damage and can generally have the enemy almost constantly doing the 25% less damage (Threatening shout's cooldown effects this). When facing Fire Chained enemies, a little bit of micro seems to keep me alive (damn you vortex/teleporter/fast/jailors) as well as most of the others I suffer with.

LoH is very nice for normal mobs and specially boss fights, but not that much on elite packs (unless you already super geared). It does help thou.

If you can get a high dps weapon (or 2) with high LoH (800+) somewhere then great, but currently you are looking at something like 7mil+ per weapon and that is allot for something that is not really needed, thou nice to have.

Overall its more important to balance your stats. Make sure your Armor & HP and Resists stay in the right ratio or DR kicks in. I'll just point you here for that: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5149150485

End of the day, I'd like a nice LoH weapon myself also, but I'm not going to pay for it, not the prices they asking anyway :)

Honestly I'm not looking for items that high on the LoH scale. I know people are only kindof happy once they're getting 1.5k + LoH but as you mentioned the price puts these items WAAAAAAAY out of my grasp. Plus I won't buy a weapon from the AH :)

What I'm rather aiming for is a regen build with some LoH thrown in as a bonus, if at all. My goal is to avoid purchasing off the AH now.... look but not touch. If I can get another 300 regen/s, I think my build will get me through Act 1 with few issues.

Aw ok great. I wish you good luck and have fun farming Act I. Without using the AH I think you will hit a brick wall for Act II, but hopefully 1.0.3 comes soon and that should solve things.

I personally think the level of Act I is very good and that it should flow into Act 2 and then Act 3 (seems that will happen in 1.0.3) but atm its just one crazy step each time.
IE I can speed run Act 1 and pull more than 1 elite pack at once or let 3 friends join and have them stand in town while I take on the mobs alone, but then go to Act 2 and things are harder than that :)

How do you die the most often?

Those bugs... when I first ventured into Act 2 one hit was 15k dmg, now is down to a more manageable 7k... except when I encounter Mortar/Illusionists :(

Mostly due to me still wanting my barbarian to pwn all :D
I'll start attacking a group, then instead of taking a breather and coming in for round 2, I stay swinging...

Yeah I tend to play aggressively too :p I refuse to kite mobs, so instead of taking breathers, I re-position myself constantly (plus side is that I pick up more globes - I have +11500 Hp Globes)

My barb friend leaps out when it gets , then charges back in trying to save me

Barbs do better with more mobs on them, so I tend to chase the ranged/fleeing mobs

And that's that for me... still shaking from adrenaline rush. :P

Now I guess I'll actually start grinding gear for my Barbarian.

Gz on your OP class :)

Now find me a imba weapon!
Yea man, I won't even argue with you on that.

I've spent like 1.5-2 mil on my DH compared to like 4-5 mil on the Barbarian(which is stuck in early Act 2).

Was planning the whole farming gear part, but with the anouncement of 1.0.3 bringing a lot of loot drop changes, I'm not really motived to farm before that.

It's still a headache dying to reflect damage packs getting 3-5k reflect ticks, not really worth the effort. :/

Ye for sure. You are using to getting 1-shotted I take it. Its kinda annoyed when they hit for 40k+ on a barb with 1k resists. That just means they actually hitting for 220k+ per shot. Not fun.

I'm really not spending much time trying to farm Act 3 or going further in Act IV atm. I know I need some gear but I have not had 1 single decent drop that is an upgrade in Act III or IV yet.
Atm I'll rather farm and help friends as the way those dudes hit in those acts is not much fun and feel unbalanced. Some of it needs to be tuned right, but mostly the loot dropping needs to be fixed (hold thumbs for 1.0.3)

I need some advice.

Playing a monk and I got to Act II inferno but this sure is crazy hard, mobs 1 shot me dead. I can kill them fairly easily if I actually am able to get any shots in, and that's only when I'm using serenity.

I've got 21k dps with Breath Of Heaven rune.
My health is 18k.
I have 4k armour.
Resist all is 149

Should I sacrifice some of my damage for vitality?

I don't play or really know monk but your HP, Resist all and probly your armour is to low for Act II. Hopefully other Monks can help you out here
