I signed up for the 8ta 10GB deal and bought the TP-LINK MR3420 3G router. Only problem I have now is how do I check my data bundle usage?

The USSD number to check your data bundle usage is *188#, but I could not find any option on the TP-LINK MR3420 to dial USSD numbers. Is there an 8ta website where I can check my balance or some program I can run over the network to check my balance?

I think the 8.ta rep is at home now....wait till tomorrow morning.

Surely there is a customer portal on 8ta's website where you can view data usage? Similar to Vodacom's vodacom4me service.

With the 8ta Connect you can use the USSD codes.

With a router you are not using any connection manager, so you will need to remove the SIM and insert it into a device that can use USSD codes.

@8ta I want to sign up for the 8ta 10GB, I have a Cellc dongle and software and their interface allows for custom apn and ussd commands. Will that sort me out ?

I saw this on the 8ta website:

How do I check my balance?
If you are a Prepaid or Budget customer check airtime credit, voice minutes, data bundles, validity period for bundles, unused credit and airtime window by:
Dialling 188 (IVR) Dialling *188# (USSD)
Send a Blank SMS to 188
Logon to the online portal & click balance enquiry. Coming Soon!

8ta rep, do you know when the online portal will be available? This would be very useful.

If your device is an E1820 and you can change your APN settings (as you mentioned you can do), then it should work.

Alternatively you can get yourself an 8ta prepaid SIM, just to see if your existing device allows other providers SIM cards.

thx, the alternative is to have the device flashed, which would install the 8ta software right?

Here is some firmware that is currently available from 8ta:

http://www.8ta.com/downloads/

Remember the following when flashing a device:
• Ensure that the PC is running on full power
• Do not remove the device
• Do not run other programs
• Do not shutdown, sleep, hibernate, log off, change user or restart the PC

And by doing so it is at your own risk

RH360, we do not have a launch date yet for the online portal.

thx a mill for the info @8ta, it is highly highly appreciated by all
