Did Cell C meet their HSPA+ coverage targets?

Well done Cell C

Cell C HSPA in my opinion has already a really massive impact in South Africa. an example below. (I am sure there are many others as well)
I recently took a chance and bought the 24GB bundle. I also had a 900mhz usb modem that worked in a planet 3g router. Connected a skype videophone to this hotspot and installed it for my 86 yr old mother in law (who has no computer experience at all) in Durban. She is now video chatting to her daughter in Canada with really good video quality and sound.
So now for about R84.00 per month she can videochat to family overseas for several hours. One cannot even get a telkom phone line rental for this per month.
I think Cell C has made a really big difference to her life. Thanks Cell C you are great.

coverage means nothing if you're currently sitting with the frequent disconnect issue that quite few of us on the forums are having, maybe it is still teething problems, but it's damn frustrating have paid big cash upfront (I took the 60GB option) and then struggling to get the return.

Hopefully they sort this out soon - it seems to be a bit better this afternoon !
 
For some reason I feel drawn to believe Cell C. Even if they don't meet their deadlines 100% they are doing allot and thats good enough for me at the moment

The quicker CellC penetrate their network into the population the quicker people will jump onto the wooosh phenomenon, this hopefully will hurt MTN and Vodacom into submission. I loathe these two companies.

Just a quick question, does anyone know if Cell C's promotional bundles are priced lower or equal to cost? Or, are they making a profit off of them?

Yeah Dorchester Heights were off the radar in December when I checked the last time.. not sure about now, they did promise at the end of Jan though.

Anyhow Cell C saved me lots of moola so far !! thanks.. :)

Based on my awesome experience with my 5gig p/m WHOOOOSH-Stick I will be porting my cell contract over from MTN as soon as I can. Cell-C's new management team clearly has a good consumer-centric plan and shows.

Somehow I still feel that is marketing as I have pointed out an area to cellc in Durban (99% January 2011) with a high amount of potential customer that can't even get a stable call never mind EDGE or HSDPA... Sigh CellC

They should be making a profit.

I cannot imagine a company ever offering something below cost for an extended period of time...

If somebody should offer something below cost, it will be limited and in small quantities. And it usually is something the company either want to get rid of, or do a PR stunt.
 
Cell C keep this up and I will move 650 5GB users onto your network by the end of 2011 or even before then.

We need great coverage for roaming users and teams across the country.

Cell C def still not in Krugersdorp, sad... of course there will be 89% coverage in Gauteng, and with my luck, I'll be in the 11% thats left over. Nice.
 
Being a very happy Cell C camper, I lent my speedstick (Cell C version!!) to some trusted friends to trial the service at their places - happily we are a growing whooosh community.
Thank you Cell C, please keep up the fresh initiatives.

So you're upset about a deadzone which you reported in January, 2011 which hasn't been resolved in January, 2011(I have no idea what that 99% means so I'll just ignore it.) . Do you have any idea how absurd that sounds?

It annoys me when unreasonable consumers use their edge case to slate an entire company.

No, if they dish out 50GB per month packages, then the whole network will come to a grinding halt. The P2P boys and high data gamers need to stick with ADSL.
I think the current Cell C packages - both price and size, are just right. They have obviously done their homework, and don't want to overload the network.

Way to go Cell C !!!

Cell-C and it's partners make more than enough $$$$ to handle the traffic. This would in-turn actually drop ADSL prices if Cell-C took a bite from the market. This tactic has worked all-over the world and if a SA company had the balls to see a temp. drop in revenue, they would eventually make all the money back and then some. No one has the balls yet, everyone is enjoying ripping off the SA consumer.

People are getting WAY too comfortable with Cell-C, we must continue to pressure them and their competitors to drop these prices. I repeat, these companies are rich as hell.
 
The other cell companies must come down first. And voice costs are too high!!
