Differences between Macs and PCs

slightly? slightly?

nah, they wouldn't use a mobo with 4 x PCI express slots and put a silly 9500gt in there :erm:

or would they be that daft?

yeah...probably IS a skulltrail :D

Mac Pro can't run any GPU in SLI or CrossFire.

Well i am sure skull trail is the same concept built into mac's, macs no longer can say they have more processing power because they are powered by intel so i am sure the 8 core mac is skull trail.

More than likely not the amount of pci-e ports but same concept.

Also have you seen the price of mac memory? Considering they use intel and ddr 2/3 the ram sticks are just insane.

I do believe most Macs use ECC fully buffered RAM which is insanely expensive compared to their non-ECC counterparts.

I have no idea but you'd probably do better on a dual Xeon setup with a Quadro. Then again I have no idea what you run.

Ok, i think i get your point now.

so, for gaming, go with a PC.....and for serious CAD work, also go PC ?

Actually it's Samsung. ;)

Not sure i understand, are you thinking i said they use intel memory? They do not make memory. Yea that memory is pretty decent hey, 62 dolla for 4 gb ain't bad.

Strange the upgrade for 2 x 2 gb sticks is 62 dolla but the upgrade for 2 x 4gb is 600 dolla lol, 10 times the price for double the memory.

What is the difference exactly? i mean does it justify the cost?

I wouldn't know about the cost justification.

Actually Apple certified RAM from 3rd parties is almost as cheap as non-ECC RAM. The price difference ain't great.

www.transintl.com see for yourself.

They do indeed use ECC fully buffered RAM for the Mac Pro. The prices seem reasonable enough (for ECC fully buffered RAM I mean).

No - it depends on the package you use. If you use a high end package like CATIA you'll need an IBM Power system running AIX or Windows. You probably use AutoCAD right? Then a Windows XP 64bit system with dual Xeons should work.

You said Intel. The stock Apple ECC RAM which came with my system originally was from Samsung.

No i said they use intel and ddr 2 / 3 i thought it was pretty obvious i meant intel cpu's :D since intel do not make memory :D.
