Differences between Macs and PCs

looks awesome, yeah

You just can't afford a Mac so you have to console yourself with those words.

Still haven't told me how you're gonna run Eternal Sonata on that Dual-SLI setup of yours? ;)

So much for PC being kings of games.

Of course i cannot afford a mac you noob, i do not have 36k to drop on a system with a 9500gt, i can afford damn fine pc's with ssd drives.

LOL keeper, wow i am glad i cannot play that game. I love that i can play crysis, bf 2 and just about any game released :D.

I like buying clever, i do not enjoy dropping 36k on a 9500gt when i can buy a 5-6k vga card every 18 months :D. That means for the next 9 years i can have a high end vga card and not a 9500gt for the next 9 years :D.

It's a JRPG what did you expect a guy in helmet and a machine gun? ;)

But yeah, not everyone plays Crysis - so tell me how is a Windoze machine gonna play a JRPG for the console - heck Star Ocean or something similar if you don't like Eternal Sonata?

Can't of course.

PC can't play everything.
Neither can Mac.
Games arguments are moot points for machines - a Mac is a workhorse machine - a PC is usually for games but many games don't run on PCs or Macs. So they're not the holy panacea of game playing either.

The guy who buys that Mac Pro - works on that machine and makes hundreds of thousands per year - if he's good - on it. You just play games. Anyway. :)

Why would anyone want to play Crysis? I've played my share of Dooms/Duke Nukems/UTs - they're all the same.

If i want to play console games i will buy a console, they cost 4k so that is 32k less than a mac :D

I can buy a console for 4k plus 45 new games at 700 bucks :D, that is a lot of games :D.

I can buy a pc for 14k a console for 4k and still have some change for plenty games and i can do video editing, photoshop and plus corel draw x4 actually works on a pc not a mac :D.

Come now, that's just making an unwarranted assumption ;)

This thread is doomed to be closed for personal attacks :(

EDIT: I might be able to add some insight regarding the comments of CPU bottlenecks where gaming is concerned. Once my internet decides to load Google again I'll gladly provide some interesting information. :)

But no-one buys a Mac Pro to only play games. Heck apples and oranges. People buy that as a workhorse machine to do actual work. They get paid for that work and a Mac with its superior hardware and software (OS and Pro-app) is a better choice than a Dell or HP PC which can't even run many of these apps.

Sure I also have a console - 2 of em - a PS2 and an XBOX360. I can also go and buy a PC with an i7 system and 32GB of RAM and two 5870 GPUs in SLI/Crossfire mode. Who cares?

Anyway it's not like buying a Mac (still using the 2006 one) is going to stop me buying a cheap cr@ppy PC to play some FPS game. LOL.

I wanna play eternal sonata now - that rainbow looks excellent, not to mention the granny playing the piano in the background!

damn...wish i had a nice 35k mac with a 9500gt beast :(

But he said he plays games on the thing. My reply is within context of his post.
No personal attacks there. :)

You can buy a cheap pc, to play games you will need it because your 9500gt just ain't gonna cut it :D.

If you enjoy spending 36k on a mac by all means, don't come punting mac as better than pc, not our fault apple rips people off. Just because something is expensive does not make it better :D

If you only play games on a PC well it won't benefit you.

That's no granny - that's Chopin youuuu Philistine :).

Didn't imply it was a personal attack, merely said that you're making an unwarranted assumption that he just plays games. I also have a gaming PC which I do 90% of my work on. Just because I say that I enjoy playing games on it doesn't mean that's all I do on it ;)

My statement regarding personal attacks wasn't aimed at anyone, just a general statement.

I told you I can put in a R3K 4780 and play games better than you, the dual CPUs in that Mac Pro are faster than what's available for desktop use.

So how does 8 cores in an apple mac help games that do not use more than say 2 ? LOL

Not quite sure how more cores would help apple run better than pc in games when games don't use more than 3 at the moment.

The arguments are not about you, this guy is saying a Mac is worthless because the GPU is not up to scratch - he defines his 'worthiness' metric by the ability to play Crysis - which I countered by saying I can alsp plonk in a R3K ATI 4870 - but that's not really the point. I'm arguing in that context. He considers a machine only worthy if it can play Crysis - if it can't play it as well as his gamer machine - then that machine is worthless. I'm responding by saying that its not a machine for gamers and even a high end Quadro won't be fast in games but it is possible for Mac users to pay R3K and get an ATI 4870.

This has nothing to do with you. I am very aware that a person can make money on a 386 and lots of it - one just doesn't often make money playing games on a high end gamer card. :)

How does your 4870 perform better than my 4870?

BTW do you feel bad about not waiting and buying Intel based SSDs like I told you months ago?

Don't punt the OCZ/Partriot/Vertex junk to people please. :) Only Intel X25-m is worthy.
