Differential data pricing making waves

So mtn said here is your data bundle and this what you are aloud to do with it? I paid for it surely i have the right to decide how i use it? Is like mnet taking away open time (again).

Egggggggzactely. Methinks I'll just take my number with me and tell 'em what they can do with their differential pricing.
 
Their data terms and conditions state that “Should it be found that VoIP traffic was carried over the MTN network using these tariffs or technologies, MTN reserves the right to cancel the agreement that you have with MTN, with immediate effect.

i like this ... will i get out of my 2 year contract ?? :D :D R25 to get out of it is a good economic choice :cool:
 
Ok so what happened since the last time this came up? This is the exact same "theories" and "speculation" we heard the last time? Last i heard MTN is only gonna make a call in June, so we'll probably not hear or see something -actually- happening until then.
 
thought the data price reductions where to good to be true.....they have to try catch you somewhere. sorry for all the people who signed mtn contacts
 
I am clarified I just canceled my MTN data
Rather save than sorry.

There is nothing new to the "news" we had last month, or the "news" we had the month before, or the "news" we had last year.

There is no "news" here. Everything is unsubstantiated hearsay.

If people are being billed by MTN at R25/MB provide some evidence and examples, instead of rolling out the same biased story month after month after month...
 
No waves here.... Absolutely none. Same as to say, Telkom will may start allowing free local bandwidth.

Gatecrasher: We based this article on new information received, and MTN has since confirmed that they are planning to implement this system. Details about this is not available yet (MTN is in a closed period) but should be available soon.
 
Well as long as MTN actually drops the "other data" prices to make up for the increased VOIP pricing, i would be happy. As in drop it faaar below Vodacom's "data is data" data.

In other words, if VOIP is the only "hindrance" to even LOWER prices then by all means, split them and give us 1GB for R100 prices [or lower] ;) . I would go for something like that come to think of it.
 
Ok so what exactly is "messaging" and why is that a problem? Is that only Mxit or does it include MSN etc?

:confused: Vodacom's 3G-HSDPA network is good enough to make 3G voice calls using a cellery phone, but according to in-house & independent tests the same network is of such poor quality that VoIP applications like Skype suffer terribly...?

I could understand if this was qualified by stating that international Skype2Skype or SkypeOut calls suffered from unacceptably high SAIX latency, but what about local Skype2Skype - maybe even where all parties involved in a Skype2Skype call are using Vodacom's HSDPA network...?
