DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Finally Rapidshare is working, and getting good speeds. Thanks DigiChilli, keep it up please.
Getting between 30-40KB/s.
On Spicy with 384kbps.

my rapidshare is going between 10-20KB/s on a 4meg line. was hopeing for more in the region of 60-80 KB/s

digichilli

my mirc downloads up to 5kbs better thab .01kbs were is my 256kbs

It's not limited. People with 4 meg lines are pulling 70kBps AVERAGE. What does that leave us 384k'ers with?

4meggers used to get 400KB/s and more, now we get in the region of 70KB/s.

PLENTY left for you 384k users.

I agree. 70KB is fair. It's only 6KB over the double speed bursting.

how is streaming on this network? would love to gooi lastfm.... :D

Streaming web radio stations works well. 5fm only uses about 3-4KBps.

Download What'sRunning. Sometimes other programs are actually updating without any notification, which I'm sure, causes many of the low speeds experienced by people at times.

When Kaspersky updates, it hogs the bandwidth and almost freezes Secondlife, which is left with 1-2K to just tick along, until the update is done.

I was home for lunch and at that time just checked my torrents which were at 64KB/s... Haven't check with RS, wasn't good this morning though

You are thus running at the perfect speed. Double your paid for, burstable package. ;)

Something interesting I found on DigiChilli's FAQ

"How DigiChilli’s burst speed work?

We're guaranteeing a minimum service but you'll probably get full speed out"

so in other words, as I understand it, they offer a minimum service of 256kb, but we will probably get full speed, ie speed of your line. Nowhere on the site does it mention that it bursts to double the paid for speed, thats something some1 made up. It says Full Speed. Either they should start offering what they claim they are offering on their website, or they should change the info on their website.

They probably wrote that with the expectation that 4mb line users would not be going for the 256k pacakge. They should've known South African's are more greedy than that. :p

It's still false advertising if im not mistaken. As I see it, even the 4mb line users should be getting burstable up to their full line speed. Thats what I was told, and thats wat appears on their site :/

Read the third heading and related info. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=3502023&postcount=788

Let me take you back to the beginning...

According to Darren Smith, Managing Director of DigiChilli, “these are all burstable services up to double the advertised speed.” http://mybroadband.co.za/news/ADSL/10412.html

^^ then its false advertising aint it? they have to change it on their site to say that. not everybody is going to read the mybb forum.
