DigiChilli January Status and feedback

@necr0mancer
Well telkom has not upgraded us yet, so can't really say, and if they do, then basically there is no uncap option available for cheap (the axxess one for R899 is the only one that remains), so what is your point? There is no current cheap uncapped offering that give you full line speed at R300

I have a question.............. some1 please ANSWER me!

What the hell is the point of DC now, did you guys not just read the news about 8mbit/12mbit and the 384 users being bumped up to 1meg??? What is the point of DC with their pathetic 256kbs uncapped account, when in a very few months we'll all be seeing a bump in speed???

All the 384 users will probably be bumped up to 1meg, now 1 meg with a DC account at 256kbs????

this option is just not viable anymore considering the news. Not for the 4meg users and not even for the 388 users

I'll answer with a simple question.

Where do you see Uncapped 1meg for R300?

No where is the answer unfortunately, DC is here to give cheap uncapped might not be the fastest yet but it's the cheapest. In South Africa cheap is what most people can barely afford.

Total Speed on a Spicy Connection ~ 32KBps.....

Is this the pipe they were talking abt ?

Yes, but I don't see that lasting too long. People will leave if something cheaper comes along, anyone business wants to be profitable and if DC is to survive they'll have to bring bursting back!

Currently I am getting my package speed on torrents. yay! Steam works. Browsing is acceptable, Youtube is OK. Finally I feel I am getting what I paid for. :-)

And surely with the speed increase and new ADSL data plans coming soon, then surely we'll be seeing cheaper and more affordable uncapped offerings. Hell, who knows, there might even be an Axxess like offering with 4mb during the day and full 8/12mb at night? Point is, I dont think 384 and 512kb is gonna be around forever. They just might do away with those speeds, so then how will a company provide a 256 uncapped offering, when there wont even be 384 anymore?

Well as you stated, other companies will make such offerings available when they time is there, what keeps dc from doing the same?

I agree and disagree. Axxess would lose huge if they did that (unless they have a plan for it). I hope to the Cyber God that 384 and 512 dissapear forever and ever, it's just NOT broadband.

Like I've said previously in order for DC to survive they need to change the 256kbps and probbaly when they have a stable network they will. It's kinda sad that DC has taken this long but I'll remain hopeful that one day in SA you'll get first world internet connectivity :)

Nothing :) I just have a grudge against DC for some reason that I cannot explain, they just urk me! :P So bashing them seemed like a good idea at the time :D

Dont hate!

I'd even be willing to pay R500 for 1 meg full during the day and 4 meg full afterhours.
This is not reality :erm:

Dunno about everyone else but my downloads seem sluggish =/ Is anyone getting full line speed? Or at least 32kB/s on torrents or http?

my speeds still suck, getting 100kb/s on a 4mb line , was getting 500kb/s last week, they working on the issue for me, hope they fix it soon....

There is specluataion in the thread about Telkom increasing the line speeds that that will cause caps to become more expensive, makes sense, it will be costing the ISPs more to give faster speeds as they will have to pay more for fatter pipes. We'll have to wait and see though.

I'm on 384k, if I get bumped up to 1mb say, I would still get DC's spicy account, it's for downloading not speed to me.

I thought I was done with Digicrap, but this morning, got a very nice little surprise, a bill for December 2009. I used the service for a couple of days and then cooled down, was totally useless at the time.

They never deducted any money from my account. Anyway, got a bill for R400 (mediuim) less already paid R240.

Here is the thing, I was on a spicy account, and I never physically paid any money and they never deducted it off my bank either...

It appear that their accounts systems is as a mess as their bandwidth supply...well I sent them an email stating the obvious. If they take money now, I want it back.
