DigiChilli January Status and feedback

HTTP speeds appear to have degraded YET AGAIN.

What irks me is this degradation is caused entirely by their shaper (as during several email correspondence my speeds have been perfect every time the shaper has died off) and while I am against any form of shaping (yet understand it is sometimes a necessary evil to certain extents) I find the idea of shaping HTTP to be outright insane.
 
My connection just died again, anybody else having same problem?

What happened to DC gives us the raw line that we pay for and we do the shaping when and how we need it?
 
Even 60kB is too much.....why must 384kb user pay R240(R300) and only get +/- 32kB while someone like you on 4MB also only pays R240(R300) but get 60kB .....

How can this be fair ..... everyone on the spicy account should get the same max speed irrespective of their line speeds

The package was designed for 384kb users ..... anyone with faster lines that want to benefit from these faster lines, should pick a higher priced package that is designed for their lines. :twisted::twisted: :erm:

Hmmm then why advertise the product as bursting??? I wish I could get 32KB/s all day, most of this month the most I got was 20KB/s and don't get me started on all the down times too...

If I understand it correctly then you should be getting 32KB/s and after hours it will burst more than 32KB/s

Also If you read the Thread you will see that lately no one had those nice speeds except for today...
 
Is anybody's DC up? mine's been down for something like 4 hours now

Edit: I see their site still says maintenance is going on

Yeah, i'm with you.....i think their advertising of bursting is worded wrong....they should have a max bursting per package.....having someone on 4MB thinking they can burst to their max line speed on spicy is wrong......someone with 4MB should not be a spicy account, unless they don't mind being throttled to 384kb bursting speed ;)
Secondly, as most have noticed, they already changed their wording with "UP TO speed" per package, yet the HOT account states 4x faster than the MEDIUM(up to 512kbps).......well that gives me "up to 4x 512" = 2048kbps, yet the HOT wording 3 lines down states "up to 1024" & that gives me 2x as hot/fast as MEDIUM :( ????

I'm sure they know exactly what they want with each package - (ok, I'm REALLY hoping here :) ), but their wording is confusing us all ????

I would redesign the "Packages" tab on the website, so that each package makes more sense about what "is" & "is not" included ;)

As many of us have said here, THIS is the problem.

You're on a spicy package and getting 300kBs+ while many of us aren't getting even 30-32kBs (as of right now I'm hitting an invisible wall of 26kB). For your 270kBs more than you should be getting 9 other users could be getting the speeds they were originally promised.

Your fault? No not really but it is a problem that DC has to sort out sooner rather than later and well..............I suppose I can't help but be a little niffed at someone going for the cheapest uncapped option and scoring 500GB OF DATA on it.

There's much confusion flying around here between kilobits per second and kilobytes per second.

Kilobytes per second = kilobits per second / 8. Kilobytes are usually shortened to KBps, kilobits usually kbps. Many people don't know the difference, and it can be hard to know what people are actually referring to a lot of the time.

If PCsToGo is referring to kbps "properly" his speeds are justified, however the standard is to pretty much talk about download/upload speeds in KBps. Line speeds are always given in kbps however.

Fyi data bus speeds are also given in bits, USB2 = 480Mbps (mega bits per second) SATA2 = 3Gbps (giga bits per second).

90% sure the guy is talking kBs. His signature brags about 500GB on a DC account and he did state he's loving his 300-370.....so I don't really think the guy would be loving anything that wouldn't allow him that ludicrously large amount of downloading.
 
My torrents are really slow at the moment, all of them are well seeded but i still get very slow speeds. 1kb/s max
Browsing is fine
Video streaming hit about 90kb/s (aka youtube)
I have not tested the rest
all and all my DC line is very unstable and very slow at the moment :(
 
To clear up:
1) I am talking about KILOBYTES
2) 500GB was with Axxess
3)Soz4havingGoodSpeedsAndYouArent
