DigiChilli January Status and feedback

I saw the BCSnet guys (upstream providor, last I recall) working today at the registered address for Digichilli so perhaps they were doing some maintenance. Was tempted to go ask one of them what was happening but I needed to get the hell out of the JHB CBD before the traffic got any worse...

telkom has been sluggish today, but now it's almost dead.

Takes about 2 minutes to load a page.

Gaming has it's ups and downs also. The connection frequently cut off and sometimes the redial would be fast enough and within a minute the screen stops it's freeze and the game could continue, but at other times it took more than 1 redial and Secondlife would cut the connection.

Right now DC is dead. It logs in and tries to load pages but hangs. Ultra slow also. Nothing works.

Sadly it seems my shared virtual pipe theory is coorect after all While a lot of people are offline from DC i'm getting an average of 30kB/s bursting (quite often) to 39kB/s which would be awesome if it didn't feel like I'm stealing someone else's bandwidth :erm: At least everything is working great except torrents guess that's what I get for stealing

Speeds:

HTTP single: 30kB/s but does burst up to 39kB/s
HTTP multi threaded: Also 30kB/s but does burst up to 39kB/s
Torrents: 0.1kB/s
Browsing: Crisp even when downloading (well almost crisp when downloading)
IM: Working perfectly
Audio streaming: Perfect
Video streaming: Almost perfect

I have a big feeling here that Telkom is to blame. Could Telkom be effecting certain locations? In any case I'd be happy with these speeds if they stay constant - 110mb per hour not bad at all and there is still improvements everyday

Well I was rather enthusiastic about this service but ended up never applying for the R1000 offering after the trail as it just wasn't working. I figured I would give it another month for them to sort the issues but a month later and people are still complaining, so...... :-/

I really do hope they get things sorted although with the 2 concurrent connection thing also biting the dust it is def not looking as attractive as it once did.

Because no February thread was started and the service needs reporting on by users.

DC is still not working.

It loads the MyBB page to 34% very slowly, then starts all over again, getting to 14%, then hangs.

The MyConnection PC tests are also still the exact same pattern...It simply dies after a great start...

It's uncanny how similar the tests look, to the tests of telkom from the 5th, when telkom was broken...Look at the pics on the right, below these...

Exactly my actions too, just somer lost faith in them now, been nearly 3 months of crap inet instability!

Andre, this is not an update.
An update consists of technical info as to why the speeds suck, and what process is being put in place to rectify it.
Come dude, most of us are in IT, don't be shy on using big words.

I phoned about the 2 concurrent connections issue and they say it hasnt been turned off. So thats good, i feel much better now.

They gave me a new username to fix the problem i was having with the sharing of my mild account.

Well this morning my digichilli account is running as smooth as ever, Doing 20KBs up and download, voip phone and browsing all together on a spicy account and 4 meg line and everything is smooth

Every month i have the same issue with DC rak they keep dropping my connection and I have to fight 4 days to get it back on!

just be aware, when you entered your info the first time it was insecure. Which means that it could easily be found by others. Be careful. Watch your cards.

it was never insecure when I entered it the first time. I'm not doff and I waited for the ssl cert like most intelligent people. And as for it being easily found by others - keep us informed how a transaction two months ago can suddenly be 'found' by others? You have more chance of someone at the vendor ripping you off. I don't think your post was warranted. I may be leaving DC but it's not helpful to start a fire where there is none.

Sorry guys, but getting an IS business classed 4mb uncapped unshaped account at R2600-R2900 is better than the offerings I see on the DigiChilli site.

...for those with R2.6k to burn - that rules out the majority.

DC are definatley up to something. Seems Rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire etc are dead and I mean dead. Can download from some but with dial up speed :erm: At least it shows they're doing something, but what about everyone that can't log on shouldn't that be fixed first Speeds amazingly haven't changed much from my last update except I don't seem to be bursting to full line speed which is alright for now

My DC account is dead, no internet light on my router.

Edit: Typical, as I hit the post button the internet light comes back on. DC still dead my side.
