SAINET @R449?

Some of us just have absolute max R300 for uncapped or per gig. You call it "clutching to those straws" i call it hope that we, lower income class, will be able to afford uncapped as well, not just for gaming, movies download ... but to get some work done at a cheaper rate. DC are stuck with me i will do all i can to help them make it in this cut throat industry.

No dobut. The R300 is very appealing for many. Lets hope things start improving for the DC subcribers. The better DC get, the more other ISP's will have to up their game.

DC only offer email as an extra and either way I (and most of the IT world) STRONGLY advise you to NEVER use your ISPs email service even if they did provide one. Use gmail so you aren't locked into an ISP (via email) for life like so many unfortunates. If you *need* to use outlook for some reason then you can configure gmail to work within it nice and fancy like with little effort.

DC Died by the looks of things but I'm back up now and torrents seem to be working. Speeds are the normal +- 20kB/s.

I agree with never using your isp email, except in this case DC use Gmail as an email provider. So I'd suggest just signing up with Gmail and not through DC.

The settings for Outlook are:

Account Type: POP3
Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Thx for the info from you & XineoX above, but I just wondered, if DC were to send out email notifications, would they send it to DC ISP email service?
I do have 2-3 gmail a/c's of my own... just wondered about DC Notifications... (if any) lol

Cheers

No problem and to answer your new question, DC would email you via the email address you signed up with. I guess you could ask them to email you on an address you obtained from them if you wish, that's how it should be done in any case but I honestly can't confirm it. :)

@Lightscribe - working well here speeds are going between 20kB/s & 32kB/s (well more 28). Maybe I'm getting good speeds because other users accounts are down

Ah good to hear, just didn't want another person to get trapped by such a petty little thing.

As for DC today, still alive here but still limited to roughly 20kBs (HTTP).

Looks like different experiences across the board?

Sainet includes the line rental.

Sainet includes the line rental.

Sainet R449 + R50 (ADSL rental) + R133 (approx cost for voice line rental) = R632

DC R300 + R152 (ADSL) + R133 (voice line) = R585

Now it may not be a big difference to some but that R585 is a Lot of money to most. Now if I could afford R600+ for uncapped then yeah sure I'd go for it. but like most people I can't so while DC is slow 90% of the time I'm going to stick with them. Why? Simple they're cheap and when they're good they're amazing. I'll still manage 45 gigs easy at the current rate and for R300 it's still they cheapest in town. DC has a long way to go until they can say they're the best and I hope it's very soon.

Speeds have dropped again tonight like almost every night. I'm getting roughly 19kB/s bursting to about 23kB/s. Sigh what I'd give for an update

Speeds this morning are better than the whole weekend.

HTTP Single: 25.6kB/s
HTTP Multi threaded: 24kB/s bursting up to 27kB/s
Torrents: 22.2KB/s
Browsing: Good
Audio Streaming: Working fine
Video Streaming: Slow but works
IM: Working

So I'd say it's just speed that needs improving DC :p

Browsing dead slow, a minute plus to load a mybb page.
Torrents still less than 1kB/s
Http downloads maxing at around 3 kB/s
I other words a very useless connection.
And this right at the end of the month when I am deciding if I should continue with digichilli.

I've allready decided to give DC the boot at the end of the month ... The fact that I get a max speed of 20kb/s means that I'm on a 160k connection (20kb/s x 8 = 160)*. I'd rather pay a bit more and get the full 384k again this is just to slow for my taste.

*I saw on one post by Cambodiadave that, that is how you calculate your line speed I just cannot find that post in the forum to qoute it.
