I think you are probably about 90% right on that!!

I have mentioned it before that Digi's last 3 days coincide with Screamers last 3 days of cr@p speeds. So Im guessing its upstream problems BCSNet, Neotel/Seacom. While all the time we are hammering the ISP...

The amazing bit is... if DC needs more casual users then shouldn't they allow us to browse (since that's the only thing we do), maybe make that their top priority? How can they expect us to stay and to encourage our casual user friends to sign up if we're not consistently getting the one thing we came to them for?

Read the help file Regarding uTorrent its very simple.... just in Preferences in utorrent go to webui, enable it, set a username and pass, then set the port number u want it to use where it says 8080 then port forward the port u use in ur router then set up a dyndns account at www.dynsns.com and insert that dyndns account into ur router

I think DC never realized how many people want uncapped at a reasonable price when they announced their service to be "ready" Everyone jumped on board....Think about it, since recently we have been paying the "MAN" for bad speed, capped, shaped, throttled and sometimes "dead internet" connections and when everyone heard about a new ISP that is cheap, uncapped and supports burstable speeds it gave us new hope...

Yeah the recent downtime was neotell related. Im really not worried about digichilli, in time casual users will help things a lot.

But the upstream issues are much more serious in my opinion. How are we ever going to be able to cancel our spare afrihost backup accounts when the upstream providers let digichilli down every few days.

Heads need to roll. There are just to many weak links in the chain.

Thats is the goal. It's just taking kinda long, and the upstream issues are holding the process up a bit.

That is all fine and dandy, for someday. In the mean time you must have the bandwidth to feed your clientèle to your acceptable quality of service levels, which they are proclaiming to be at 256kbps... which is not happening...

So, if you can't provide that, then you don't have enough bandwidth to begin with.

I think that is the biggest problem. if your mix of users change, then it is cool, then you can give them extra, ie burst. But in the end, your service must be profitable, at minimum quality of service for all users, if not, then you have oversold.

The problem is:

1) There are still 4meg lines on spicy and medium, that is not capped at 384 line speed...
2) Their providers does not give them a stable feed
3) The shaper that they are using is not not working properly.

That brings me to some of the other problems I have with Digichilli:

1) They have disclosed a users usage info...
2) Have made a personal attack to some users.
3) Limited/ Blocked users without informing them prior to action taken
4) Some of the prior to launch explanations regarding burst and concurrent connections has proved to be contrary to actual observations and official emails / pm's
5) It has taken them more than a month, and still no stable service
6) Their "shaping" is no better than any other shaped service out there!


When you view all these things together, I am sorry, but I cannot see myself ever recommending them to anyone or use them myself.

For everyone that is defending them, awesome, but I find it funny that you are willing to pay for another service as well, while you wait. If you add all these costs together...is it still cheaper?

My favourite of them all must be Lightscribe. Here is a guy that have stated over and over that the Second life is the only reason he has this account...Can I ask, how many days last have you been able to use second life?

In the end, there seemed more people with blind faith in this thread, than happy users...and that my fellow ADSL users, is the nr1 problem with ADSL in this country...How long have we talk about faster lines, and double line rental and caps? How many times have rumours circulated...

Digichilli was supposed to change the way we see internet, in the end, they have done more harm...they have preyed once more on starved Broadband customers, they are in my books nothing better than Telkom or any other provider that have taken people for a (expensive) ride...

I am willing to try anything to have a decent ISP, but at the moment I already paid DC...and sometimes they are not the culprits...External factors are greatly ignored by some...I agree that DC is not ready, but there is no other alt for me at the moment.:(
 
most of the time DC delivers nicely, speed, browsing etc. Its basically only torrents that remains a problem constantly. the rest comes and goes.
